2016 Shed Season

I took the boat out to crooked creek last week, and all the bulls I saw were still packing. I did see a couple trucks from Missoula which I am guessing were guys horn hunting but they didn't have any bones in their trucks.

Found this winter kill bull yesterday, ivories are worn down to almost nothing.

Wet and rainy day in MT.

nice shed there JJ like that sword and tail on the right side hard to tell by the picture and the broken antlers but the left side looks to be weaker then the right.

Wish we could shed hunt out here more in SoCal, but the animal density isn't there. Nice finds!

My brown sheds are fading out... still a few here and there but mostly whites. Eyes are getting bad.

Went out shed hunting with my daughter the other day. We found a few deer sheds. Here are a few of them. It was a fun trip.

great job. I am jealous. On a side note antlers not horns. Antlers shed horns do not

Antelope shed their sheaths, their horns are always there it's the sheath that comes off

This fact is true and I agree, but it is still considered "shedding of horns" by many.
True horns are never shed and are made of compressed hair (keratin) growing on a bony core. The horn sheath of a Pronghorn is a little of both. It is made of keratin growing on a bony core AND it is shed annually.
