General question. My dad applied for a general tag with one pp and it appears he didn't draw so he'll buy another point and draw next year, which is going to be kick ass to have him out and hunt with him, but back to the question when you apply for a NR tag do you have to check somewhere that you want to use your pp or if you have them do you automatically use them? Before I moved to Wyoming I never used pp so I have no clue. Just want to make site he's doing it right next year if he didn't do it right this year.

Wyoming looked at my name and decided that I still must have some moose meat left from last falls hunt and didn't have room in the freezer for elk? They were right, still at max points!

Drew hunt area 40 type 1 with 2 points in the special draw. Was a little worried since last year 2 points in the special draw was only 40% successful.

Ha ha, actually I think that's my friend, but you're pretty close. I am a lot nicer in PMs, and if you ask me about a unit I don't plan to hunt again, I'll spill the beans.

I'm not sure I should even bring this up but according to the draw report for area 120 type 1 on the GF website for 7 PPs it was a 10% draw and only one tag was given out for 7pps and 0 tags for <7. My brother and I combined had 6.5 points and we drew tags. So I am assuming we drew the 2 random tags that were given out. My question is I thought that when you applied in the preference point drawing and were unsuccessful you went into the random drawing as well and I thought if you drew in the random drawing that you kept your PPs. Am I mistaken.

Yes, you're mistaken. My brother drew 7 in the random draw a few years ago and his points were reset back to 0.

All 1st choice, full price tags drawn will reset your points. Not the case with reduced price tags.

Your points will zero if you draw first choice. It doesn't matter if you draw in the random or point draw, it was still your first choice.

My dad drew 45. Lucky dog. I didn't apply with him cuz I missed a two years buying points. Maybe I could tag along, he's going guided. I will be applying for deer and antelope though
