Anything OTC out west is going to be a crowded challenge or the tag will be in an area with little to no public access. A guy can still have fun trying though if you are looking for a challenge. I'm sure you are aware of Colorado OTC elk. It is high pressure but guys get it done every year...

You didn't even ask for help on a hunt, our honey holes, or what area to apply... What's this world coming to! Just kidding, welcome aboard. Nice bull in the Best Bull thread.

I think it may be challenging to predict points required for 2022. Over 4k tags were cut last year and I anticipate further reductions will happen this year. If I were in your shoes I would research several areas that took 4-5 points in 2021 and then wait for quotas to come out prior to making...

If you can find them, these are as good as we have found. https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/rifle/6-5-creedmoor-143-gr-eld-x-precision-hunter#!/ The Remington's mentioned above do shoot great but they shoot quite a bit slower so you give up distance. Inside of 300, likely wouldn't matter.

Funny but not always true... shots fired from 700 yards up the mountain gets pretty nerve racking.

Looks great! Love mounts that have some real meaning.

Some great memories in these pics- our family antelope hunt near Laramie. This was opening day for those that ask what clothes to bring... you just never know lol.

Not a record but pretty dang rare to see one over 300 dressed. To put it in perspective, 350 would be a dressed weight for a decent sized cow elk. The record is actually 410 pounds for a mule deer and even heavier for a whitetail - 439lbs.

350 dressed?

Way too many to just pic one... 1 represent 4 people so I'll do one for each. My oldest in this pic had a recently broken leg. We were hunting with NE69 when he took this buck. My youngest with his first deer. He was so happy... My wife with her first buck - also hunting with NE69 My...

I agree! That top right bull would get shot on most LQ hunts as well. With a longbow is awesome. I always wanted to do it but never felt like I had the time to invest to get good enough.

Crazy off the wall thought- what if Wyoming and Colorado worked together and made hunters choose to apply for only one or the other for each species. They would still easily sell all their tags but would reduce points required to draw for both states. I know it won't happen but it would help...

So many through the years that I don't have pics of on my computer. Here are a couple that I do - the first is my biggest at 352" My Covid bull from last year.

Our just change the title...

This hunter, and more pictures of the buck, are in our hunting success thread.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on a very cool buck!

I have seen a few complaints regarding this outfit this year. Sorry to hear. Hopefully you get another chance to go.

Guessing that blood trail was ok to follow lol

I understand your point but I do disagree in some situations. Orange can really help identify hunters in the background. I have had a few occasions where I didn't shoot, or asked others not to shoot, because someone wearing orange was in the distance behind the animal. At long distance, it's...
