I think a .380 would just make a bear angry given the paltry energy of 200-300 ft. lbs. depending on the load. Also how accurate would you be while crapping your pants and trying to aim at the bear when it's charging? Bear spray would be more practical.

If you don't mid my asking, how do they compare to the Redhead sock as far as thickness? I have some redhead socks that are about 10 years old and they are great. I bought some new ones a couple of years ago and they are just a little thinner than my old one.

Personally I like wide, heavy racks and any extra trash is a bonus. When you see the really big ones there is no need for a second look through the binos.
