    Rethinking Deer Gun

I'd get another cartridge/rifle, you never have too many. I bought a .25-06 a few years ago and it is just the medicine for animals up to deer. With the 115 grain bullets some have used them on elk. I shot the coues deer in my avatar with it at 420 yards and was ready to stretch the range...

10 resident colorado deer pp’s where would you go?

It might help is you posted the units that you are interested in. There isn't a unit that holds mule deer in Colorado that you can't find a 160+ buck in. Some are just a lot easier. Even the fabled unit 44 has them but you are going to have to work to find them.

What no hunter wants to see

There are a lot of things that could be going on. Novice hunters who didn't know the area. I know a number of hunters that wait until they get back to their vehicle to clean the animal, they heard somewhere that it keeps dirt and debris from getting on the meat. I just as soon as get rid of...

10 resident colorado deer pp’s where would you go?

You can do a lot of it on your own. Go into the CP&W web site and go to the statistics page then start going through them and see what you can draw with 10 points, and if it was me I would drop the points down to 8 if I really wanted to draw the tag in 2020. Then once you have the units that...

    Grizzly Bear Elk Hunting

I often have others ask me why I shot a elk 3 or 4 times when they were dead with the first shot. I just look at them and figure that they have never hunted elk before. You shoot until they are on the ground.

What no hunter wants to see

I just carry a length of para cord and have a walking stick made out of a yuca flower stem. I just tie the feet up onto the stick and pack them out like a suitcase. I did think about throwing one over my shoulder one time but thought better of it.

What no hunter wants to see

A deer as small as a spike you can just throw it up onto your shoulders and head back to the truck, no need to drag them.

    Taking a ATV to Arizona?

They just changed the rules on Sept 1 this year to where non residents now need a permit. They found another way to get a little bit more out of us. It used to be a 30 day grace period but no more. I guess that links don't post completely with the new format. If you click on the AZGFD in...

    Grim Odds.

Me too, but not very much. However a non resident can put in for all the OIL and LE animals for just a $10 application fee where residents can only put in for on OIL, and one LE.

    Grim Odds.

If you look at any non residents odds in any state and most of them are so far out there that you need to be a young man to start putting in. However, Utah works on bonus points and not preference points in the LE and OIL hunts. Plus if there are more than just 1 tag offered 50% go to the top...
