Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

I would imagine because they are within a National Park. They could perhaps isssue tags but I don't know what the regulations would be. Take Grand Canyon National Park and the bison hunt that they were suppose to have. I know that they started to "select" hunters but I think that is as far as...

    .416's w/ 350gr TSX @~2700fps?

As long as it is legal and you have the rifle why not? I have killed a number of cottontail rabbits with my .340 Weatherby. I shot one once and my hunting partner asked me why I killed a rabbit with it where it wouldn't have anything left. I calmly walked over and picked up the headless...

Colorado 9 pp where would you go ?

Seeing that you are a non resident you might not have many options. I suggest that you go to the statistics page and see where you can draw with 8 points. I know that you said that you have 9 but if you want better odds you will look at those units where you can draw with 8 or even 7 points...

    Danner boot question

I doubt that you want to do it to your Danner boots but a trick that we used to use to get tight cowboy boots to fit was to put them on and then go stand in some water for a while. Fishing was great, then wear them until they were dry. We would get a custom fit that fit better than a glove...

    .416's w/ 350gr TSX @~2700fps?

I have always loved the allure of a .416 caliber firearm. But after saying that if I had to choose between a .416 and a .375 I would go with the .375. Even on a African hunting forum that I am on the .375 gets the nod over a lot of the rounds from .40 and on up. The .375 is legal for any...

Decline in moose preference point purchases?

Nopex, I'm in it for a bull. While bison meat is fantastic I'm in it for a trophy. I have been on a dozen hunts for them down in the Henry's and know them quite well. Well enough to tell you that some of the hardest hunts are the cow hunts after the hunter choice hunts are finished and know...

Decline in moose preference point purchases?

There are areas where residents can hunt deer every year but they may not be where a person wants to hunt. My favorite muzzle loader area can sometimes be drawn every year, but it is usually every other year. I am lucky in that my secondary muzzle loader area is just across the road from my...

Decline in moose preference point purchases?

I would say that if a person is 50 years old + to not even bother with putting in for any draw that is going to take years to draw. Save your money or just open up the checkbook and head up to Canada, hire a outfitter and go moose hunting. I have a problem in Utah in that I have 20 points...

    Seeking Wild Rabbit Recipes

I also keep it simple. I'll take the dutch oven or a heavy skillet and brown the rabbit in a little bit of hot oil. I'll then add enough Cream Of Chicken or Cream of Mushroom soup or some of each to cover the rabbit. I'll then reduce the heat to where it is barely a simmer and cover the...

    New Meindl Boots

Well, after 3 1/2 years and who knows how many miles across rocks, logs, hills, valleys, and who know what else I decided to replace a pair of my Meindl boots. Last July Mustang06 had a post about Menidl USA and I bookmarked it. Since Cabela's/Bass Pro got rid of the brand this is now my go...

    Dog House’s

As for outside dog homes there are some very good ones that you can buy out there. If you are handy with a hammer and can drive a nail into some wood without bending it you can also build a good one with scrap lumber and siding that will keep your pooch nice and comfy. Years ago when I was...

    Kaibab early rifle!

It was a finicky year for deer this year in a number of states and it sounds like northern Arizona was no different.

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

Here is a picture of my two new knifes. The on on the left is a Forseti Steel damascus with a 4 1/2" blade. The other is a Whitenuckler Classic The Forseti damascus one is more decorative than anything else but it sure is a pretty knife.

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

I bought the same ones that I did a few years ago and like the old ones. The old pair will still stay around for work around the homestead. But when I get out hiking in the hills I don't want the possibility of them starting to come apart on me. That's the biggest reason that I am replacing them.

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

When I was a kid around 13 or 14 I lived down in Douglas for month or so when the monsoons hit. That was the first time that I ever saw 6" of standing water because the ground couldn't suck in up fast enough. I remember one afternoon when a vinegaroon came waltzing across the living room of...

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

The boots are made in Italy and the store is in Nebraska and it is ran by a couple of ex-Cabela's employees from what I have heard. Someone on here posted about the new web site for them and gave a web address and I am glad that they did. The boots that they are replacing are now 3 1/2 years...

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

When I have been down there for the HAM javelina hunt in February I have seen everything from 10" of snow to a constant rain for 3 days. It is fun when it snows and you can track them real easy, but rain isn't too bad either. It is just that when it snows they huddle up in the thick stuff...
