    Music anyone?

What kind of music do you all like to listen to? Reckless Kelly, one of my favorite bands is making a trip thru the NW soon so I thought I would throw a plug out for them. They are centered around two brothers from Idaho who started a band in Oregon a long time ago and moved to Austin, TX...

Born And Raised Outdoors "30 Days" ..... a must see video!

I don't buy many hunting videos but after seeing the trailer to this one I picked it up at the Pacific Northwest Sportsman Show and I wasn't disappointed! All Roosevelt elk action here in Oregon and some of the best video work I have ever seen. The hunts are just normal old hard core DIY hunts...

Good archery unit with one point?

Good archery pronghorn unit with one point? Anybody have any suggestions on units with ample public land and good topography for still hunting with a bow? I'm also interested in hunting a water hole although my son doesn't sound at all interested in sitting it out. Feel free to send me a PM...

    American Archer Wyoming moose episode

Anybody else catch the Wyoming moose episode with the little yearling bull moose getting arrowed in the rump? I can hardly watch that program any more due to all the product placement ads but I had to check it out after hearing about some questionable shooting. It's one thing to make a...

    Got my wolf skull back......

I normally do all my own European mounts but since Tony Hook of Predator To Prey Skull Cleaning (out of Idaho) was offering free skull cleanings of legally killed Idaho wolves I took him up on the offer....I had three buck skulls to deal with as it was. Here she is with my humble assistant...

    2012 Hunting Goals

So what's on every bodies list to get done in 2012? Lets hear it! Here is my list at this time.... Tag draws could change things up with any luck! *Kill a spring bear. Doesn't need to be huge as I don't want any more bear taxidermy bills. *Scout and kill my personal best Roosevelt archery...

Why Oregon is screwed in the long run....

The reason hunting in Oregon will continue to decline and eventually go away is because we are overrun here with moronic people who really don't appreciate hunting or harvesting their own meat. I posted a story about the fair chase wolf hunt I recently returned from on a local "hunting" board...

    One less wolf in Idaho!

I posted a picture of this critter on the general board but figured I should put it up here for all you Idaho hunters to see. Caught this wolf in the act of devouring a trophy game animal and was able to get a snap shot off with my trusty old 30-30 just as it was going out of sight. Glad we...

    Vacuum Packers

I have gone to almost exclusively using a vacuum packer to wrap meat for good long term storage and easy defrosting. The old Foodsaver is starting to act up so I was considering purchasing a more commercial type sealer in hopes it would last longer and theoretically do a little better job...

    2011 Oregon archery season

Well, how did everybody hunting Oregon do in 2011? Post up some pics or excuses or both! :p I hunted Roosevelts exclusively and hunted pretty hard in hopes of killing a really big bull. I hunted 17 full days and numerous evenings after work. All in all I had a great season just wasn't able to...

Too many elk in Murderers Creek and Northside units????

I posted this on ifish but thought I should put it up on here too. It looks to me like the board of the Grant County Wildlife Advisory Committee must be a little heavy with ranchers. I don't hunt elk in Murderers Creek much but from what I have seen there are a lot less than there used to be...

When will they start to wallow???

In general when do you all start seeing wallows getting hit? I've been thinking of hunting over one this year and have been checking in on it but so far no action. I guess I expected with an extended period of hot dry weather they would be getting in the mood but it looks like it is more of a...

    Arizona Deer Association

Is this a legit cause to donate money to as far as y'all know? I bought some raffle tickets and got thinking I should have inquired here beforehand. I am glad to kick them some money for a chance at a hunt as long as they are legit. Do they do good things for the deer herds in Arizona?

    IQ Bowsight

Does anybody have any experience with one of these things? I am playing around with the idea of going back to a multi pin sight and this concept intrigues me a bit. It's not that I want anything else to think about when I am shooting an animal but in theory I can see where it would be helpful...

    How old was this bull?

I usually try and send in a tooth out of the critters I kill and just got the postcard back on my 2010 archery bull. He was an Oregon Coast Roosevelt. How old do you all think he was???

    Idaho Whitetails

Well I didn't draw a tag in any of the 4 states I applied in so I plan on investing a bunch of time in killing my first whitetail up that way. Without divulging too much on the internet (feel free to PM me) do any of you have any advice to offer up? I tried a little last year but we hit it...

    Record keeping organizations??

How do you all feel about big game record books? It seems like everybody has a different opinion on what is right for them and which ones they support. I have always supported the Pope & Young Club and the Boone & Crockett Club because I feel they do a lot to support hunting in general and...

Oregon Coast Spring Bear....broke out the old gun!

I've been sitting in a very cold treestand off and on all of April trying to kill a big spring bear with my bow but yesterday I had a change of heart. I had taken my old Winchester Model 94 into a gunsmith to get my new 2.5X Leupold Scout scope mount installed and it happened to be done late...
