Think the consensus is possum, and my wife confirms it: she came home last nite after playing organ at church and seen a big, fat possum milling about near the woods by our property. 😆 Anyone got any other interesting prints to share??

I was thinking k9 too, but all these prints are from the same track and made by what appears to be 1 animal.

So, honestly I don't know; but based on similarities to other I have seen online, I'm thinking its a big possum. All the prints in the series are in the same, long single track away from our place-they came out of the woods and traveled into a deer trail on a clearing off into a cornfiels, so...

It appears there's way over 15 breeding pairs currently, if I read that link and others more recent correctly; so the ball is in our court. Would it be correct to say this is 'the good ole days of wolf hunting' in Idaho? Bittersweet, as it is though; some of those links showed the expected...

Interesting stuff. A few recent years back, IIRC, a couple were actually killed by coyote hunters here in Iowa. DNR surmised they came down from MN or WI. The hunters knew they killed something way bigger that a 'yote and took the carcasses to the DNR, where they were positively ID'd...

I too punted on WY elk this yr. Planning on putting in for lopes or deer.

I'm struck by low success rates; I know very little about predator hunting, so my impression isn't at all meant in a negative/smart @$$ way. I guess wolves are just really hard to hunt. Anyone know if that's always been the case, even in Pioneer and Native American days?

I'll echo what 'CC shared. I hunted deer on the west slope Bighorns/east side of the basin the 1st week of Nov last yr and in most of the flowing creeks and rivers I came across mallards; even some pintails. IDK if there was a season open then or if was unusual to 2019, but they were there.

That's pretty cool. I've known some guys that work oil/gas production; on the odd occasion, they've been able to build in a western hunting trip with work travel. Was just curious.
