It's called Soldierstone and if you Google it, you'll find a very interesting story about it and it's builder. A local friend (a Vietnam vet) and I visited it several years ago. It is very awe inspiring.

I limit myself to 500 yds....that's all the further I've shot any of my rifles on paper. The longest shot I ever tried was 425 with my 25-06 at a buck antelope. One shot, dead on!

A lot of us have Ballistic Turrets (many of you don't ), here's why I do. The one thing you must have before a ballistic turret makes sense is to have settled on one load for that particular rifle. The BT is setup for one load and if you change, the point of impact (poi) will probably change...

I have 4 Leupolds with their Ballistic Turrets. All VXlll's, 2 4x14, 1 3x9 and a 6x20. I have shot them all out to 500 yards and all perform as I expected. No matter what range setting I use, they all shoot and return to different range settings with less than moa groups.

I have a Ruger M77 in 25-06 I bought in 1970 that has been my deer/antelope rifle since then. I have taken over 100 animals since then. I handload and use Sierra Gameking 117 gr BT's exclusively. I have had quite a few scopes on top of it. By far the best is my current one, a Leupold VXlll...

My condolences to you and your family. I lost my Dad in 2012 and like you he was my mentor and taught me to be a good hunter and person. I miss him every day. We went elk hunting here in Colorado the last time in 2008 when Dad was 90 and he got his last elk.

Bucks starting to show up around here. Saw three nice 4x4's with all the does last evening on my place.

The "special Irrigated land" type 6 tags are explained in the regs. I hunted this type of tag near Farson one year. I also had to get landowner permission to hunt most of the area.

Just got these back from the Taxidermist. These are from the ones we got this year and posted earlier. We traded him for the capes and paid him a little cash to boot.
