Especially hunting buddies. In the pas 5 years I have lost 3 hunting buddies that I have hunted with for 60 years. Can't be replaced, but thankfully I still have the memories and pictures. The real problem for me is finding someone to replace them. Most guys my age around here don't hunt anymore.

That's why I don't buy cheap knives. I've been using the same pocket knife (Case), 4" 2 blade folder (Case), both are older high carbon steel and over 50 years old. I also have a custom skinner that is 40 years old. Keep sharp & clean and they won't let you down.

I would soak it in hot water to start with.

Never piloted an airplane, but I worked on plenty of them.
