California has a system of mandatory return of big game tags. All tagholders must return the tags to be eligible for the next drawing. They get all the verified kills that way. Not so sure that is the best system, just another way of keeping California hunters under the state's thumb.

I am giving up M/L hunting . Here in Colorado M/L hunts at the same time as archery. There are probably 50 to 1 archery over M/L (depending on the unit). I was at the Sportsman in Soldotna, Ak in 2019 and it was one of the best SW I have ever been in. Lots of merchandise and fair prices.
