curious how close you came? how many times?

    Who taught you to hunt?

My dad.... then my cousin(mom's cousin), him and my dad hunted a lot together, my dad mostly a bird guy growing up....but my cousin got more into big game, so any time I was around him especially as a youngster, I'd pump him for hunting stories etc... more recently, deer camp has become an a...

    Utah Antelope

How'd you do? how was the hunt? quality, etc...? I think I'd probably end up paying a trespass fee.... not really looking to pay for an outfitter, but have no insights on where etc... yet.

    Utah Antelope

CO has better antelope IMO. if you're applying in UT for other game, then you might as well tack on antelope, but to specifically apply for UT for antelope, I'd pass on that. I personally am looking to hunt CO antelope sometime in the future, but like another post stated, it seems most of the...

So...What are your plans for 2021?

WY Sheep, Moose, Goat, I think I'd prefer to only draw 1 of these 3 😁

    Win 6.8

exactly, put a different twist on the 270wsm.... if you wanted, also what's the highest bc of a 270 bullet? I assume the 6.5 and 7mm will beat them. also the shorter case...? can't you just use the longer case and longer bullet and seat the bullet wherever you want....ie, don't use the powder...

    Win 6.8

6.8 western... a shorter 270wsm..... makes almost no sense to me! I always thought a 7mm-6.5prc would be a sweet setup.... although I'm not sure case capacity vs .284win? I also can't seem to find accurate numbers on a .284win loaded at higher modern pressures, especially with 140-160gr...

Sources of Revenue for Wyoming Game and Fish

not to be morbid....but eventually max point holders will die/stop applying/some will draw....although I'm not sure how many 70-90+yr olds are still gaining points? I wonder if many just give up? or draw a cow/doe with their points? I use to count on say WY moose numbers to be better in the...

Sources of Revenue for Wyoming Game and Fish

I do believe ID has an option to buy leftover non-res permits at that non-res price.....at least they did at one point I read, which is akin to my point about just raise prices on everyone and let the cash poor in.... they probably could be making A LOT more $$$ if they really wanted to/be greedy.

    Wyoming Moose

I'd avoid units with a lot of random tags this season.... good luck.

Sources of Revenue for Wyoming Game and Fish

I would propose... residents could apply at the NR fee price.... but 5% sounds good too. also I'm sure maybe there'd be some leftover cow/doe opportunities for residents... to help manage our unit...

Sources of Revenue for Wyoming Game and Fish

I think it might be interesting to have a NR only unit.... it could be done/experimental. maybe on federal land...

    Elk Rifle

I wonder if more elk were wounded and lost back in the day? shoot 1....don't find it, shoot a different one... I know way back when there were essentially no fences, people just hunted everyone's property.... also didn't many guys back in the day use smaller cartridges with lesser bullets? I...

Sources of Revenue for Wyoming Game and Fish

I notice Non-residents flipping the bill.... essentially non--res generate 80%, residents 20% residents get 80% of the tags non-res 20% maybe one day WYoming will try to generate the most money it can and just sell as many non-res tags at full non-res price and whatever is left can be sold to...

    Pre, RUT, Post??

What's your preference for when to hunt elk if you could only pick 1 time period? I feel like most think the rut is the end all be all, and sure you'll hear and see more bulls, but does that actually translate into killing more elk/being more successful? I'm debating a pre rut archery elk...

New gun 300 win mag question

if you can handle a 12ga slug, you can handle a 300win.mag, especially with a good brake. You DON'T need a 300mag to kill elk, but it's a solid round none the less. I have a 300win and 340wby and plan to get a 300wsm one day and probably shoot 150/165gr as a lighter weight elk magnum setup...

    Archery ELK, pre, rut, post??

So of course you hear and see more elk during the peak of the Rut, but does that actually lead to success/killing? ex. do you think sitting water pre-rut in New Mexico you could be successful vs calling/hunting during the rut peak? also what about just pre rut and hunting vs sitting water...

1st Elk hunt White River NaTional Forest.

Watch out for the Orange Army :) good luck, I would shoot the first bull/cow you see, if you get a shot.... I believe that was 1 of my first hunts myself, rifle, otc, colorado, white river.... I had starry eyes of big 6x6 bulls, figure out ahead of time what you'd be happy with..... ie, a...
