    Just can't fix stupid...

Or does he say that he arrowed a bull but couldn't recover it? I hunted with one of them for a couple of years. One year he said that he stuck a big bull real good and then lost him, 4 of us went up to where he said that he shot it at and asked him where the blood trail started? He walked...

    Snow in SW Colorado

I was surprised when I went out this morning, I looked out the window and figured that I had a inch or so, it turned out to be 4-6. My sister called me from Utah where I am headed tomorrow and warned me of the upcoming storms and that I should perhaps head over today but I've been fighting a...

    Midway - Worth The Watch?

From what I have read of the reviews it isn't worth going to. It sounds a lot like the Pearl Harbor movie.

    Just can't fix stupid...

I read that article and was wondering what goes on up there. It was also interesting that a couple of them shot themselves in the foot. Darwin at his best

Don't put all your faith in onx!

The problem with roads on any data base is that if they don't carry a county, state, forest service, or a BLM road number you have no idea if it is legal to use. Last month while I was hunting in north west Colorado there were a lot of roads that were on my OnX maps on my GPS, they were also...

Don't put all your faith in onx!

A lot of fences years ago were put up after a survey had been done. I worked for a surveying company back in high school and hiked all over the mountains of Utah verifying corner pins and such then stringing a line right on the property line for when the fence company showed up to install the...

    The Lightest Weatherby Rifle Ever

What I have been reading is that the 6.5-300 will get you up to the 3500 fps range with the 127 grain bullet but the 6.5 RPM is only going to be in the 3200 fps range. This is for factory ammo which is usually 100-200 fps faster than a consumer can get it with factory ammo. I haven't looked at...

    Nor-Cal Success

Great job, those are some nice animals. Any story on that trap? It looks like a very heavy drag chain for a predictor

Don't put all your faith in onx!

What it comes down to is that there is very little data that a user can use that is going to be 100% accurate. Maps depend on a human drawing lines, GPS chips depend on correct information from the data programmer. At work we used to say bad data in results in bad data out. All we can do is...

Don't put all your faith in onx!

The one thing that I don't like about the OnX now is that you need to get a subscription to their stuff to obtain a update. I'm not sure on just how often they get the county records to update their stuff. I did see on my Colorado one that it took 2 years before I saw the update showing my new...

Don't put all your faith in onx!

Everything that I have used OnX for they have been spot on. At least they have if the fence lines that I have checked out are correct. It also has the proper locations for my 4 corners of my property. Remember they say that they go off of county data and perhaps US Forest Service maps...

    Chasing Chukars

Good going, dog or no dog? I'll admit that I don't have a dog and I love hunting those devil birds and have bagged my fair share. However I would of had a lot easier time if I had a dog.

    Early season low altitude hunt

I guess that a early archery hunt for coues would fit since it is in January and you can't get much earlier than that.

    Early season low altitude hunt

Back country pack in just don't go with 7,000' and below very well. For a earlier hunt Utah has a few areas that are below 7k with quite a few deer. The Southwest Desert unit is one. Most of it is below 7k with a few peaks higher. Quite a few deer hang out down low in the cedars and...

    Rethinking Deer Gun

I think that the big difference between the Camilla and the Vanguard is just the length of the stock. So if you can find a Vanguard that fits her I'd go for it. Other than that you just need to keep looking or have a shop order one in for a test fit.

    Rethinking Deer Gun

I'd get another cartridge/rifle, you never have too many. I bought a .25-06 a few years ago and it is just the medicine for animals up to deer. With the 115 grain bullets some have used them on elk. I shot the coues deer in my avatar with it at 420 yards and was ready to stretch the range...

10 resident colorado deer pp’s where would you go?

It might help is you posted the units that you are interested in. There isn't a unit that holds mule deer in Colorado that you can't find a 160+ buck in. Some are just a lot easier. Even the fabled unit 44 has them but you are going to have to work to find them.
