I'm using the same barrel on my .28 Nosler and my gunsmith thinks I should be able to run about 1,000 rounds through it before I start seeing any degradation.

Yeah, it seems to be working very well so far as my groups look a lot like yours. I'm going to mess around with some different powders but just for fun. My groups can't realistically get very much better … not with me shooting them anyway. :rolleyes:

Currently using Berger bullets. I've killed a black bear and two mule deer with the 195gr EOL Elite Hunter. It groups very well and hits hard … all three animals literally dropped in their tracks. I'm still reloading to see what the gun likes the best.

Good deal. I've heard those big bears sometimes come to the sound of a rifle and things can get pretty dicey. Glad you didn't have any issues. That sure is a nice Sitka Blacktail !

Very nice rifle!! Congrats I too built a .28 Nosler with my gunsmith last year (posted about it previously). The main difference is I went for less weight … barely 8 lbs with a March scope. Looks like they both shoot very well … it's a great caliber.

I can second what Slugz said about Ballistic Tips. I've been shooting 165gr Ballistic Tips for many years in my Dads pre-64 model 70 Winchester because that's the bullet it shoots the best … and I think bullet placement is probably the most important factor so I want the rifle to be as accurate...

"Put a muzzle brake on your 30-06 and keep using it." Yeah … that sounds pretty good to me too. Then trade your .243 for a .25-06 and you'll be all set !! ;)(y)
