    Best Custom Hunting Knife

Back in the 80's I had a custom knife made by Mark Wahlster from Silverton, Or. The knife has been used extensively for over 30 years and still looks new. I googled Mark and found he is no longer making knives, but are really valuable. I paid less than $100.00 for it. The knife is 7 1/2" long...

Won this tent and down bag (Badlands Sleeping System). Really nice and functional. I am 75 and don't do any backpacking anymore so my son talked me out of it and loves it. Thanks Eastmans............

    Memorial Day

As a service connected disability veteran, every Veteran's Day I think of the friends and relatives who are not here to share the memories with me. Life long friend Dick G., VN vet who passed last year, My Uncle Quint, WWll B17 Navigator, Hersh & Syl J., my boyhood heros, WWll Army vets and my...

    Winter storm

Here are a couple of pictures from my deck this AM. Yes it is cold, about 30, but you never know what will happen in the Rockies in the Spring. I have to go to Durango this AM, not looking forward to the drive....50 miles of ice! Update: I am leaving for Durango....snowing again!

    ATV Thread

    Hot Waterfowl Reloads

I guess I'll start this off. Back in the 60's when I first really got into reloading shotgun, my buddies and I would do a lot of experimenting as there wasn't a whole lot of information like there is today. We didn't have plastic wads and all the hulls were paper. We were going duck hunting in...

Colorado Fees for Hunting, Fishing & State parks to rise.

House Bill 1321 was passed out of committee to the full House which would raise fees for hunting, fishing and state parks entrance. The license for fishing could be raised from $25 to $37.50, small game hunting to $30, deer to $45 & elk to $67.50. The bill would also eliminate free senior...

    Garmin GPS Interface

Need a little advice from some of you computer experts. I have a Garmin 650 Oregon with a Colorado chip. Out in the field I sometimes have a problem with the small screen...too much sun, no reading glasses, etc. At home I interface it with my home computer. I have downloaded Garmin's Base Camp...

Last Ditch Option on Inaccurate Rifle

I have my first rifle I ever owned...a surplus 1903 Springfield, 30-06. It was made in 1927. My Grandfather got it from the NRA in about 1950. Totally sportized, as we did with lots of military stuff back then. After many years it started shooting lousy, first thought was barrels shot. I decided...

    1941 9N Ford Tractor

Finally got around to working on it. My shoulder surgery kinda got in the way. A friend works on tractors and he cam over and we started. Got the cowl/fuel tank off, radiator out and took off the generator. Radiator is going to be boiled out, rodded out. Generator rebuilt. We also realigned the...

    Bullet selection

I'll probably get a few peoples dander up, but here goes anyway. With the advent of the ultra long range hunters and TV shows, the need for a better bullet to fit THEIR needs surfaced and Berger really stepped up. But I am not a ULR hunter. For me probably 500 yards is about as far as I'm...

    Nice close to the season!

I recently went thru retiring a dog, tough deal. Had Molly for almost 14 years and was my blind companion for 12 . Recently got a new pup and she is going to be a go getter. God made black dogs to be blind companions, friends and retrievers and did a great job doing it!

    buying new .270

Why a new one? Anything wrong with the old one....still shooting good groups? If the old one still shoots great and you just want a new rifle, I surely would opt for a different caliber. I have a sporterized 03 Springfield that I've had since I was 12 (over 60 years), it still shoots great and...

Sell Me On A New Rifle/Caliber

There is one thing in Eberle's post I don't agree with.....thumbhole stocks for a hunting rifle. I built stocks for many years (over 100 as I remember) and decided to build a new rifle. I built me a really nice thumbhole stock. I shoot lefthanded and back in the day there wearn't too many left...

    Swagger BiPod

I saw a review on this product several weeks ago and also received an Eastmans review today. It looks really great for functionality. The only problem other than being a little "spendy" is the weight. It weighs 1.5# for the ground model. Man that is heavy. Anybody tried one?
