    Rifle Review Snowy Mountain Rifles

Saw the video of the review. Rifle does shoot....but it better for that much $$$$! I was surprised at the velocity of the round tested, quite a bit less than 3000 fps. I get over 3,000 on my handloads for both my 25-06 & .300 Wby (and less than moa). Sure like to know the various amounts of drop...

I have spent a lot of time in 73 & 74 for the last 30 years. You are going to find it much harder to find the deer .

    Why no standardized .24-06 and .26-06 ??

I have a reloading book out in the shop published by Speer back in the late 50's/early 60's, that has lots of weird wildcats in it. Most were not successful. P.O. Ackley was one who published his wildcats (He called them "Ackley Improved") in 2 books...I have them both. Lots of interesting...

    Why no standardized .24-06 and .26-06 ??

Back in the 50's &60's, lots of guys experimented with these types of wildcats. I do remember a 22-06. The main limiting factor back then was powder.

OHV Trails - Colorado National Forest Land

Down here in the San Juan NF, the FS is posting the ones that are closed. The 2 tracks that were used by full sized 4wd's are usually bermed or have large rocks across the entrance to keep you out. The ones used by sxs & quads are posted with their standard "fence post" type signs.

    Favorite Rifle???

Probably my M77 (tang safety) Ruger in 25-06, bought new in 1968. I have shot over 150 deer and antelope with it and never a problem. After literally 1000's of rounds, it still shoots sub moa with my reloads. My first rifle, a sporterized 1903 Springfield, is up there too. Hard to pick one over...

    Another Poaching Case

Pretty bad deal. I really don't understand the reason behind something like this. Penalties aren't strong enough for any poaching.....period!

CO 1st rifle elk vs. muzzy elk

Like Slugz, it depends on the unit. One year I drew a unit that I know has a really great population of elk. It is close to my homeplace and I scouted it all summer. I hiked many miles and saw lots of elk. I knew where I wanted to camp and left 3 days prior to the opener to get setup. When I got...
