    Pronghorn Draw

I have hunted antelope here in Colorado once in the 20 years I have been a resident. Took 15 points to draw the unit I wanted and I had 18. Great unit, but only 25 tags available. I have a neighbor who hunts public land here about every 3 or 4 years. Good public land draws are pretty tough...

    Pronghorn Draw

NR cannot apply for a RFW tag and they cannot hunt in the RFW season (which is different than the normal seasons). If they buy a tag from the operator of the ranch, it would have to be a land owner tag.

When do Harvest reports come out?

I don't put much faith in harvest numbers for most western states. They don't contact ALL of the tag holders and the data they do get can be bogus. I do like the way California does it where all unused tags must be returned to the state. They get better data then. I have not been contacted by...

Lots of mallards on the cattle tanks.

I'd like to see a muzzleloaders only season, no archery

    Kaibab early rifle!

Unit 70 in Colorado is a tough hunt in 3rd season unless you get lots of snow. I hunt it regularly as I live about 100 miles to the south. I have seen and shot some nice bucks from it, but I always hunt 4th season.

    Class

What made me go to the 180 level was that his is 30" wide. Hard to judge that in the picture.

I say 180's. Harder to tell when they are in the velvet as it makes the mass seem greater.

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

Better to let real hunters pay to take an animal rather than pay shooters to do it!

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

True. Cows would probably bring 1/2 of that. But the idea of letting hunters take the excess animals and pay for it needs to be explored.

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

Back in the late 50"s California set the first hunt for Tule Elk. My Dad drew bull permit #1. The Calif F & G set up the hunt in a way that I could envision hunts being conducted in NPs. There was a mandatory meeting of all hunters to go over all the rules. Then mandatory range time to prove...

    WYOMING UNIT 75

Depends on what's your definition of "decent". You should never have a problem getting a mid 70's buck. Look at the post in this classification about this years success. It's post #13 and there are several pictures of the 3 bucks we took and we did it in 2 days, but we aren't too picky. We...

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

Similar situation in Rocky Mt. NP in Colorado. It is overrun with elk and the NP Service hires people (I'll not call them hunters) to shoot elk and pays them. It is absolutely stupid to totally ban hunting in the National parks. They could make a lot of $$$ selling tags!

    WYOMING UNIT 75

I've hunted 75 quite a few times. The only downside I know of is there is quite a bit of private land in the unit, and a lot of it does not participate in the walk-in program. I hunt a different unit now just to the south of 75. In the last 20 years, I have hunted after the opening weekend...

    .416's w/ 350gr TSX @~2700fps?

I don't want to tick anybody off, but using a 340, 375 or 416 seems to me a little bit of overkill for deer sized game. IMHO you don't need anything bigger than .30 caliber. A lot easier on the shoulder and pocketbook.

    Danner boot question

I have a set of shoe/boot stretchers. They are wooden and adjust for width. Simple to use and not expensive. They work well.
