Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

I an sure glad I hunted Wyoming in the "good" days in the past 45 years. I don't have any points for the Big 5, but do for deer and antelope. If Wyoming goes to a 90/10 tag allocation for deer, elk and antelope, I may never get to hunt there again. I am 80 years old now and guess I will benefit...

Wyoming antelope advice for family hunt

Yep it happened to me a couple of years ago. I applied for a NR deer tag and went special to make sure I got it. I didn't draw because the number of applicants for the special was way high that year. If I had applied for the regular tag, I would have drawn it.

Wyoming antelope advice for family hunt

Before you apply for the special tag (costs a lot more $$), check the history of the unit draw. I have found that sometimes a unit will take more points than a regular tag or you can draw the regular tag with less points than the special. Just sayin................

What Is Your Go To Hunting Knife?

I separated this into 2 posts. These 2 are knives I made. The first is a skinner with a gut hook that I made from a power hack saw blade. The second one is a knife that I made to carry on my gun belt when I am cowboy shooting. I also made the leather sheath. It has an elk antler handle. I have...

What Is Your Go To Hunting Knife?

I have two that I really like and have been using them for years. I have a folding Kershaw Black Gulch that I have used for gutting for probably 30 years. I also have a custom skinner w/gut hook that was custom made to my specs by Mark Wahlster (Silverton, Or) about 40 years ago that is the best...

    Western Colorado Snowpack Conditions

Just looked at the current snowpack conditions for western Colorado (west of I-25) and things are pretty encouraging. From a low of 82% of normal to a high of 105%, with SW Colorado at 95%. The latest storm was pretty wet and things look good for this year. It will taken several more years just...

    RV Graphics

A few years back I bought a new travel Trailer (28' Denali). The back panel was totally blank and was a candidate for some cool graphics. I did a little research and found a company in Arizona that had what I was looking for. The company (RV Stripes & Graphics) would make almost anything you...

Poaching, why is it acceptable on predators, but not on ungulates?

Actually here in Colorado the Parks & Wildlife Dept is what is called an "Enterprise", which means it is self funded and gets no money from the state. So the hunters, fisherman, campers and ohv'ers are paying for it, not the general taxpayers. Pretty stupid !

Poaching, why is it acceptable on predators, but not on ungulates?

In some areas (Colorado for example) it really doesn't depend on our local and state politicians positions on reintroduction/management of wolf and grizzly populations. It is almost totally federally controlled. Here in Colorado the state has resisted reintroduction of the wolf into our areas...

    What is everyone up to?

Got my Rhino running and got our driveway/road to the county road plowed. Really nice day and warming up next week. The only downside will be that the snow will melt and we get the result....mud!

    What is everyone up to?

Winter is indoor Bullseye Shooting league for me. I run the league and we shoot 2 days a week until the end of March. Getting ready for spring, working on irrigation system, went to the first NASCAR race of the year 2 weeks ago and doing a little maintenance on my side by side.

If I had one....it wouldn't be for sale. One of my hunting buddies passed away a few years ago, he had one that was a tack driver. I tried to buy it from his son....not for sale he said.

Poaching, why is it acceptable on predators, but not on ungulates?

If there are no season, bag limits or other restrictions (other than a hunting or small game license), why would it be "poaching"?

The .264 Win Mag is a perfect example of why someone who owns one and is considering an upgrade to the newer 6.5 being offered today should consider reloading for it if they don't already do it.. The .264 was developed over 50 years ago with powders and bullets common to that era. Todays...
