2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

How many of those state changes removed all opportunity for you or others in your situation? I understand your argument but anyone with a set of morals would understand that what was originally proposed was wrong. Changes will be made to 90-10 before it passes. Residents like yourself have...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

Those are definitely significant changes that will benefit a lot more residents. No questioning that. I also agree, quite a few ways to make up the funding. I was simply pointing out that you failed to show the significant loss in your math. The question still remains. How do you...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

I think you are forgetting that Wyoming will lose a significant portion of the millions in preference point fees for sheep and moose. You would have to assume many will stop purchasing if they have zero chance to ever draw.

The bill just died... 4-1. Good news for non-residents.

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

I apply for moose only... Referenced the others because you did. There are a lot of things other states do that Wyoming doesn't do. I expect things to change but not so drastically that it would remove all chance at drawing for those invested. You would complain if you were a nonresident...

    Why do you hunt?

It's simply in my blood - I am a very happy man with a tag in my pocket pursuing whatever happens to be in season that will provide food on the table.

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

Buzz, you know the math is bad for that 12 year old regardless. Use moose for an example- Currently Wyoming has 22,182 people with moose preference points. At 75% or 90%, that 12 year old is likely still waiting 50 years + to get his moose tag. If nobody dropped out, the numbers are actually...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

As rough as the increases are for some to swallow, they aren't nearly high enough to scare enough people off to the point that they won't sell their tags. Something to consider, good outfitters have wait lists multiple years long for 7-10k hunts. Make no mistake, the tags will sell. They...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

I agree with you on almost every front. However, the fact that they have lured in so many people with the preference point game that will now NEVER have a chance to draw some species tags is wrong. For antelope, deer and elk, it will just mean a longer wait between drawing tags. For species...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

The reality is for every one that drops out another 2 will replace that person in the points game. Fewer non-resident hunters will have an impact on some smaller economies but Wyoming tourism is going strong. So many more people go out to ride UTVs, hike, snowmobile, etc than I ever saw 10-20...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

I agree- if the bill is passed. I think we will know where things stand by the antelope and deer application deadline.

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

This time has a different feel to it. As mentioned before, bills like this keep getting closer to passing. From a selfish perspective, I hope it takes another year or two to get done. I would love to cash in my moose points before they are trash.

    Cow Moose Wyoming Question

Missed that - sorry. The waiting period does still apply for residents so at best you can draw the tougher hunt areas every 10 years or so. It will take a resident a lot longer to draw a good cow moose permit, even if they implement the 90/10 split, imo. Look at the areas and the points...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

If I am reading the bill correctly, there will no longer be a special tag.

    Cow Moose Wyoming Question

No, just non-residents. The information I listed above was strictly for non-residents as well. I assumed, possibly incorrectly, that you are a Colorado Resident.

    Cow Moose Wyoming Question

Also of note, if the proposed bill passes, all moose permits will go to almost 3k. Pretty damn steep for a cow! Only silver lining may be that a lot fewer people apply.

    Cow Moose Wyoming Question

Take a hard look at the numbers and regulations. In Wyoming, there were only 6 cow moose tags given last year in the state. Also consider Wyoming has a 5 year waiting period after successfully drawing a moose tag. That means no preference points can purchased either. If the 90/10...

2021 WY Bill for Tag Increases

The antelope and deer seem steep to me but I do understand their reasoning. I have drawn a particular tag two times that my resident friend has yet to draw. 90/10 split for tags is fair and the only way to accomplish this without losing money is to raise fees. With the current demand far...

    Mount Pictures

Looks like you started with the most challenging- a lot of guys would trade their Moose, whitetail, muley, and antelope for a nice goat and sheep. I think your checklist could be done in a couple of years... or at least significantly shortened!
