    New muzzleloader talk

The Driver ELD-X are not legal in Colorado, they have a plastic sabot on the back end.

    New muzzleloader talk

I was using BH 209 but it is next to impossible to find anymore. Hodgen was importing it from Canada but there have been problems doing that in the last few years. It does burn cleaner but like all black powder substitutes it is dirty, just not as dirty. I'm going to try out some 777...

    New muzzleloader talk

I have a Accura and the barrel is too small of a diameter for any of the Thor's. So instead I have been using Barnes TEZ 250 grain bullets with a sabot. I don't use it in Colorado so I also have a scope on it The Thors shoot just fine in my Thompson Center Triumph with 90 grains of Pyrodex...

Colorado Twin Peaks ranching for wildlife

To find out the exact reason you would quite likely need to talk to the operator. As was mentioned RFW's come and go. Perhaps CP&W didn't want to give them the amount of landowner tags that they wanted, it could of been complaints where the ranch operator didn't want to put up with it any longer.

    Given' Up/Cashing in my Points

If you haven't looked at the odds report 29 NR points should be guaranteed tag. 27 is on the border of tag/no tag. But I'm betting that he'll draw. Naturally both depend on others with more points jumping into unit 61 muzzle loader

    Anti- Gun

A little over 10 years ago when the voters voted in the liberals so that they can control both Legislative Houses. I saw one of them the other night after the last school shooting saying that they need to do more. But a lot of this falls upon the hunters of this state, notice I didn't say gun...

Grizzly delisting, will it ever happen?

I wouldn't hold my breath. It appears that the anti's are getting stronger every day. They support their cause with not only their voices but their checkbooks. One only needs to look at the wolf situation here in Colorado. If they hadn't won in 2020 they would of had it back on the...

    Elk Muzzleloader

No, Powerbelts and Thor's are legal and some of the Barnes that don't include a sabot. There may be some others out there but those are the only three that I know of that also. The Thor's are manufactured by Barnes.

    Given' Up/Cashing in my Points

With that many points you should draw the muzzle loader tag in 61. Even being a resident I was in the same situation as you find yourself a number of years ago. I decided to draw a different unit rather than wait and hope that they would allow a mechanized wheelchair for me to use up in the...

    Elk Muzzleloader

I used a 300 grain Thor bullet on my last muzzle loader bull elk and 90 grains of Pyrodex. He was at 120 yards and I hit him 3 out of 4 shots. I only recovered one bullet that broke ribs going in and out lodging on the far side hide. All the shots were killing shots, but a lot of people asked...

    75-25% for Colorado

I think that he was talking about what I used to do. I would put in for a elk point and then purchase a OTC bull elk tag to hunt on. For deer I would put in for a point and then get a leftover archery tag. I hunted deer and elk every year that I was building points for both. 14 points for...

    Wildfire Thoughts

If the fire is hot enough it will create a crust almost like dirty glass on the surface and plants have a heck of a time breaking through it. If this happens then the area will be quite barren until something happens to start breaking up that surface crust.

    Wildfire Thoughts

I've seen burn areas start to come back in weeks if not days depending on how hot the burn was. I've even seen elk and deer inside of burn areas munching on the fresh shoots of oak brush and other plants that survived as they are just starting to come out of the ground. I've know quite a few...
