This has happened to me as well. camped in an area for a few days, just happened to go about 200 yards up a little feeder creek, and run into a giant outfitter camp - 4 big wall tents, horse paddock, the works.. The camp was empty, but we ended up running into the guys a day later, packing in...
They literally jump into my boat, when I'm running the really thick stuff, in the dark.. Maybe I could just mail you some. Some of the Cajuns I know eat them, but those dudes don't count, they eat some weird stuff.
I was recently in your shoes, sort of... Was looking for a new rifle that had a bit more performance than my .270win. Really struggled between a 7mm and a 300win mag. Ultimately went with the 300 win mag, in a Christensen Ridgeline. With the muzzle brake, it kicks far less than the .270, to...
The Shuttle T-Locks fly pretty good for a fixed blade, mine are field point accurate out to 50. I've killed a few deer, few turkeys and an elk with them. Not sure they make a 125 grain option, I shoot 100's.
Sorry for the copy/paste here, but I couldn't find an actual link to the article, I received it directly from the MDC.
A couple of points:
First, this is phenomenal, to go from no elk in 2011, to being able to hunt them in less than 10 years.
Second: I love the random drawing that will be...
Oh yeah, and some photos... Don't mind that pig in the chair, Jr. Fink is scared of it, and it's the only way I can keep him from climbing in the chair and onto the countertops...
Alright.. So, I went out the other day and bought a new Christensen Ridgeline in 300 win mag, and topped it with a Vortex Viper PST 3-15, cause hey, Treat Yo?self, right? Didn't really need it, but have been wanting one for a while (too bad now I need another gun safe, I'm officially out of...
Headed down to New Orleans last week for some work travel. Tacked on a few extra days to catch some Redfish. A buddy took me down to his spot on Southern LA for a day and a half. We hammered the Redfish both days, catching everything in about 2 feet of water. Sight fishing was a bit...
Welp.. That's a wrap for my turkey season. hunted 5 days, killed 4, and called one in for a buddy. Get to play guide/caller now!
Hunted a farm this morning that I've had success on in the past. Set up under the tree where I shot one last spring. Bird starts gobbling across from me, pretty...
It's been a pretty fun spring so far!
A buddy and I headed to Kansas for the archery portion, toting his new crossbow.
We scouted two toms and their harem of hens the night before, and got set up early the next morning. The birds completely read the script, pitched down, and were headed in...
This past weekend, I headed down with a few friends to snag paddlefish on Lake of the Ozarks. This was another first for me, but the guys I went with have been doing it for probably 15 years, and they have it absolutely dialed in. Most of the people snagging are way up in the upper reaches of...
Been trying to do a few new things this year, went ice fishing in North Dakota in February, that was a lot of fun. Fishing was a little slow, but we caught a bunch of perch and walleyes, and mixed in some smallmouth as well. It was a totally foreign experience for me, and I'm glad I didn't...
Anyone have a recipe, or a process they like to use for cooking an elk roast that will be used to slice for sandwiches? Normally, any roasts I do are pot roast style, but I?d like to do one that?s cooked to medium rare and then sliced thin.
Not really sure where to start... cook it in a hot...
Hunted the Central Kansas early duck season opener over the weekend. Numbers were incredible, between the public we hunted, and all the private ground that had sheetwater on it after the 15 or so inches of rain we've received in the last few days, there were probably well over 200,000 birds in...
Just got back from my Wyoming elk hunt. Had an absolute blast. Gotta give a big shout out to a few guys here on the forum, Team Kabob, for insisting I borrow his trailer, so I could take every single piece of hunting gear I own, and Kiddwinner and MOHunter for providing some key intel on the...
Kuiu just announced that Jason Hairston has passed. Really sad to see this, the guy seemed to have the world by the tail.
Prayers to his family as they navigate this difficult time.
