Planning for our most recent Alaska debacle allowed me to spend a great deal of time getting input from a rather large number of sportsman "living this every day"
They clearly were in two groups when it came to handguns.
1) Wheel guns throwing flames
2) Autos
Two items both groups agreed...
Encouraging to see some of the commissioners utilize some common sense and leadership.
Disappointing to see some with clear agendas that they try and insert everywhere.
Wanted to see from the forum if anyone has done any testing with your hunting load.
Specifically
1) Has anyone taken their brass and measured primer pocket depths for consistency?
2) Have you then seated your primers exactly 3 to 4 thousands deeper than the case? Or have found a node measured...
Full length bushing die is one thing
Neck bushing die is one thing
Full length resizing die is one thing ( has ball and decapping pin)
Expander mandrel is inserted in a plain dummy die with a steel or carbide mandrel in it for precise ID
So couple things going on.
A Redding S type full length bushing die has a bushing in the top end that goes over the neck. You get a bushing and install it that matches your bullet brass combo. Establishes an OD exactly. Usually .001 to .003 smaller than the loaded rounds OD. Each brass brand...
Does anyone use a full length bushing die to resize and bump the shoulder then use a expander mandrel to set neck tension/concentricity?
For those that do it what's your work flow? do you do it post trim, deburr/chamfer?
Do you use a dry lube? Carbide vice steel mandrel?
Thanks
Those are both in the same price category scope and are both very close in my opinion. Close enough the eye couldn't tell. The Meopta Meopro is not a full blown Zeiss so its in the same class as the VX3 HD. I'd lean towards the Leupold for their no non sense return policy/service.
First off thanks to Go Deep, Buzz and Wy Tx for helping me to learn the ins and outs of the Wyoming draw system for residents and non residents, navigating the public land and HMA application process.
So after spending a full year coming up with a plan the girlfriend drew a -6 cow for Area 7...
While 4th season hunting in Colorado last week I saw this recipe in one of the Eastmans magazines at the cabin. Fast forward one week to the " I cant find an elk to save my ass" Wyoming.......we decided to at least eat some. 😃
All have already said this but just to add. The girlfriends CA Ridgline has been shooting the Hornady ELDX factory loads lights out, and I mean lights out. I checked her zero yesterday and cloverleafed 3 deadon bullseye.
Really makes me re think my custom rifle and handloads. 😃
I guess a...
We had weather on the eve of the opener, 4 inches of snow. Was plenty cold above 10,000 ft. All the elk were on south facing slopes feeding. We hunted sunrise to sunset 4 days straight and were in em each hunt. We saw no other hunters which Im assuming was due to Thanksgiving. That being...
