    Wyoming whitetail

On October 28th I got out whitetail hunting with a type 3 tag with my son. We were overlooking a small creek bottom that we've found sheds in before, and seen does in, so figured we could turn up something. After about an hour and a half of seeing 2 owls and 2 turkeys we were a bit discouraged...

    Son's first turkey

My son is 8 years old and took hunter safety this last summer and has wanted nothing more than to hunt turkeys, why I really don't know. So we got setup on acreek bottom, but when the turkeys came through they spotted us and bailed across creek, so we went into stalk mode. We came over the hill...

    Dad's first elk

So my dad is 63 years old, has MD, and wears leg braces. He was able to get a couple hundred yards from the road and farther a few other times. On this particular morning I was cold calling for him on a meadow and cows were answering from all around us, there was probably bigger ones, but he...

    Honey do list, DONE!

Finally got my honey do list completed. I removed our old deck, removed 10" of dirt, put 4" of sand back in, set the forms, put in about 450' of 5/8" rebar (this thing isn't going anywhere), poured the cement, let it set for 40 days to dry, then got it stained today. The important part is, I got...

Bored, so I made some hunting stuff...

This long winter into spring is kicking my butt. Was suppose to go up turkey hunting this weekend, but mother nature postponed that for a couple weeks, so I broke out my 8th grade Home-ec skills. I made 8 game bags that are washable, and reusable. Then I wanted to get the rifle holder for my...

    DIY Deer/Antelope Wyoming

Here's how most antelope come out. This is an entire antelope de-boned in the pack. Don't drive where there isn't a legal road. You shoot one in a ways you push, pull, drag, or carry it out.

    Turkey's, let's see them

Posted this on the Gobble, gobble post, but figured I'd share it here too. Had a family turkey hunting day with my wife, son, and daughter, with some great results. My son who is 7 wanted to do some calling this year so I picked him up a crystal pot call, which he has gotten pretty good at. We...

My son who is 7 wanted to do some calling this year so I picked him up a crystal pot call, which he has gotten pretty good at. We walked out some willow patches and did some calling. The last setup my son...

    Custom gun stock

I just picked up a used Browning A-blot and it has a composite stock, I'd like to make my own wood stock. I have a chuck of Ash, would that hold up to a 7mm Remington Mag? Otherwise I can get my hands on White and Red Oak. What's do the experts think?

    Base Camp Tents

Here is a wall tent I had made, 12'x12' 5' walls, great for 4 for week long camp. If there is not much wind you can use 4 stakes, one center pole, and on pole on each corner, I can set it up myself in 10 minutes. If it's windy, then you add a few more stakes and poles.

    Camera advise

Looking to buy my first above average camera, looking for recommendations. Would like to try and do photography as a side job possibly, so I'm looking for a camera that would do close range, to a moderate distance to start. Couple feet to maybe half mile? Can't afford a lot at first, and...

I had the Lasik eye surgery a week ago to the day, and man alive am I happy! Thought I'd put a little info out there if anyone was interested, or on the fence about it. I had the procedure done at 2 p.m. and could see after, but not great. After a good nights rest I could see great the next...

Hypothetical question. You can go on one dream hunt, money, time, and physical ability don't matter. It's a dream remember :D Where you going? What you hunting? Who you taking with? For me I'd like to do a fly in Combo hunt in Alaska. Hunt Moose, Mountain Goat, and Grizzly. I'd take my dad...

    Year in a nut shell

Got back out with my boy for some fall turkey action, which will turn out to be a week I'll never forget. 3 days later we rushed my son to the ER, 5 days later we left. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Type one is much different than type 2, type 2 in most case is curable. Type 1 is when...

    Transfer of Public Lands

2 miles SE of Lovell on HWY 310. This is what state land ownership gets you, a closed sign on your public land. I've got a few calls in this morning, but no response as of yet to what resource they are protecting. There are a few other tracks of state land by Lovell that have also been posted...
