Took me awhile to get use to it, but I always have tire chains. This is from a well driven county road, as you can see a little rain can make a big mess. I wouldn't have made it even with new aggressive tires without chains.

I had this one custom made and it use a single center pole and it has a metal D ring on top to use it pole less if I want. Just got it so I can't speak to the high wind, but in setting it up in the yard a few times now I'm glad I got the 5'sides.
