Lots of reduction in tags especially antelope and deer. NR might want to buy a point only this year.
The problem on our ends is not seeing all the raw data they have from helicopter surveys and from testing for fast content etc. Gaurantee that is discussed at length at the approval meeting.Glad they made significant reductions. That is more than I expected but not as many as I wanted reduced in some areas.
WYOMING GAME AND FISH COMMISSIONCan someone post the updated deer and elk numbers. I can't pull them up. Thanks
Good Luck!!!!!We are going for it! All in with my buddy that has 17 points and I have 4. Fingers crossed and lots of time off to dedicate to 2 good goats. Of corse he gets first pick since he’s bringing me into the chance of drawing the tag.
Sure elk are doing just fine but why raise quotas, after an extreme winter, in some of the hardest hit areas? Their budget may be doing fine but I guarantee they don't want to see it shrink. I would also second Mallard's question - If the budget is doing so good why the drastic increases in Non-resident tag prices?Elk are doing fine or are above objectives in some areas. They don't need to raise revenue, they have reserves.
Deer are not suffering all over either, some LOs have issues with deer in their meadows etc, hence the doe tags and any deer tags in those areas.
I agree on doing your homework.
You and I both know that just raising quotas to kill more elk doesn't work in most areas. If it did, they would have issued double the tags in areas like 6 and 7 a long time ago. You like to make it sound simple but it isn't.Elk are over objective, they need to kill more, they want more opportunity, they raise quotas. Pretty simple.
As for the budget nonsense, obviously none of you watched a task force or a legislative meeting. If you had you'd know why Hicks and the Legislature raised the special fees. In addition, the dept is sitting on almost 50 million in reserves.
Because they are still self funded and if they raised residents tag prices they would really hear it.If they don’t need to raise revenue then why are they jacking the prices of the NR licenses up?
