I'll be hunting up in the Black Hills April 14-16 and already have my tag.

General Turkey tag + Conservation stamp is $84.50 total for Non-resident.

Open invite, come hunt! Will have wall tent/generator.

Nice offer. We are going to try hunting the South Dakota side the last weekend in May with archery equipment. We have no idea what we are doing, but are sure to enjoy ourselves as we are bringing our horses with. I think if we found turkeys we would be excited, much less arrow one.

Numbers should be rebounding pretty well. Lots of jakes, leave us some for next year.
Watch that boundary , state that is. Don't want to get caught trespassing in the wrong state, they do patrol it.
Neat country to hunt, be ready for some cold wet weather possibly.

Pretty easy, get off the road and you'll find birds. Season only runs until May 21st this year, I wouldn't recommend going the last weekend in May might get in a little trouble.

EDIT: I doubled in Wyoming/South Dakota within hours of each other. Didn't need horses at all :)

I live in SE Wyoming (Laramie), this is my second year hunting up there. Plenty of National Forest to stay on ;) don't need to go anywhere near private.

Yup. Last weekend of the season is what I meant. We know horses aren't needed, but we like them. If anything they will make it harder. :p

Why wouldn't you recommend going late? I will be up there late and seeing how I've never hunted that state I'm wondering.

It would be illegal, since season closes the 21st of May. He said he was planning to go during the last weekend of May (which is the 27th and 28th). Strongly advise you not to go after season. LOL

The hunt lasted two hours, I roosted some birds and had to run and gun on them. Missed twice at 20 yards, bought the same turkey loads but they were shooting tighter out of the gun for some reason. Shot right over two different toms heads.

After that, I went down the road a few miles and saw three hens out in an open pasture. Yelped out my window and heard three gobbles. I figured out they were only a couple hundred yards off the road I ran up to the ridge they were thundering off. They wouldn't come down the ridge but were fired up and I kept hearing them gobble. I was tired of waiting for them and once I heard them gobble in the opposite direction I took off over the ridge and had one 3/4 strut at 30 yards. Ended up shooting his wing and he flew down and bedded up under a tree where I finished him off only 20 yards from the road.

18#, 7.75" beard, just barely 3/4 spurs on both sides

This was my first time out this year, went yesterday and shot him. Went and did other things hoping somebody else would want to come hunt.

Very cool. We went the first weekend of shotgun season and tried using our archery equipment. Found turkeys. Pretty awesome having them answer our calls.Got one to 60 yards which we thought was pretty awesome.

No horses. We are taking one of the kids out with us last weekend so won't take them then either. Learned a lot and have a better plan going forward.

Found a small mule deer shed and a nice deadhead, but the deadhead was too green to bring home in the car. Hopefully the flies have worked their magic by the time we get back.

When the season is over I will post some pics. Wish us luck.

Anything special about him? Just caught him and ate him, my first Walleye ever off a worm. Figured since I paid $600 for an elk + fishing license combo might as well use the fishing license a few times haha

Gotcha. I was just curious of whether you got into a bunch of walleyes somewhere. May I ask the body of water you were fishing (not really familiar with the area). Like I said, I was just wondering.
Congrats on what looked like a good time.
