Well, I'm a sad panda today. Turkey stole my arrow. My plan went so well, such an awesome experience. Located them the night before. Walked in from the backside and got them to gobble. Set up but they quieted down after a few gobbles. Figured out there was a canyon in between us. Packed up and located them in a big meadow so I looped around and came in even with them in the ponderosa forest. Called from 100 yards and closed the distance as they moved towards me. Multiple turkeys gobbling and the hens were irate that I was there. Set up behind a fallen log and took a shot at 30 yards. Smoked him. Flipped over backwards, flopping, feathers flying, but he got up and and sailed down the mountain. Searched for hours and couldn't find him. Found one cut feather where I'm pretty sure he landed.

I should have let them keep coming. I was just so surprised it was all coming together that when I had a shot I took it. Hit him a little low and a little forward. Pretty bummed out over it, but the experience was really amazing. If that makes any sense.

The lake is at Keyhole State Park, not far from Devils Tower. Nice lake and campground. We were just there last weekend. Caught walleyes, crappies, small mouth bass and a northern pike.
