I couldn't tell you how the current conditions are, but I was there last year and saw enough antelope to keep my hunt interesting. I had the best luck finding them on the smaller parcels of public land than I did on the larger chunks. A land owner GPS download was a must. I killed this on the third day with the help of a local. Then, I got to eat dinner with the family. Great people in Wyoming.

I hunted there last year, I wasn't impressed. We all tagged out 4 bucks 2 does. I found an small area surrounded by private that had more bucks then I seen in most of the unit, but they were smaller. Don't be afraid to look in higher elevations, I seen a huge one in what I would call mullie territory after we were tagged out.

I've heard the same comments about 80 the last few years on several different websites. You did touch on something that a lot of antelope newbies don't realize and that is that antelope will go real high if the area supports what they need. Many think of the flat, sagebrush areas as the places they need to hunt while I've seen a lot of them at close to 8,000' out there most every year. A lot of them will actually summer at high elevations and not come down to winter range until weather really forces them out just like deer and elk.

Buzz, tell us what kind of boots you wore on your hunt!!!!!!

80 is a unique unit, 3 years ago after season was coming to a end I seen some good bucks. Like Buzz said, most where on the smaller tracs. Also more seemed to be on the Western side of the unit.

You got the town of Cody to hang out in, plus Yellowstone is right next door.

Been swamped with work and just saw this. Shot him in my flip-flops. Sometimes a guy gets lucky and has an animal run right into his lap. Had to put on boots for the recovery. Lucky flip-flops are taking a trip back to Wyoming to hunt mule deer this year.

Plan on spending most of a day at the museum in Cody. It was one of the highlights of my trip.
