So I will have two point going into the draw next year. I am moving to Powell in 6 weeks so by the time 2017 comes I will be a resident. My question is if I don't use my points I loose them. Can you draw a decent unit with 2 points?

there is no such thing as points for residents for elk, deer or antelope...so ya you would lose them...and the best deer tag in the state is a general tag as a resident. IMO...If you want to draw a certain area as a non-res with 2 points you can figure that out pretty quickly on the game and fish website...But you wont be drawing something like region G which is an OTC hunt for us residents.

Brian,

If you can, get your residency changed in September so that when next October rolls around you can buy a resident general tag... As mentioned that is much better than anything you can draw with 2 points.

Is he treated (points wise) like a non resident and will not lose the points for 2 years because he didn't (couldn't) apply? Just wondering in case he moved out of Wyoming before the 2 years were up.

Actually I was wrong I would be able to keep them as well as still purchase points for non resident even while I am a resident. At least that is what game and fish just told me

There is no option to purchase those points as a resident...You can probably keep them for up to two years, but just like if you were a non-res, if you dont use them in a 2 year period they disappear....I would be very surprised if there is a way to buy non-res points while a resident...I would guess whoever you talked to was a little confused in what they were telling you
