Why do people still shop at cabelas?

Black Friday I picked up a new Lowrance I had been looking at and really wanted but could not justify the $1700 price tag. It dropped in half and I could not pass it up!
Did you get a HDS 10 or something like that? Yea I noticed that they had some incredible sales on the Lowrance graphs. Was tough not to buy one...

HDS 8 ND - Cant wait to install!
Sweet! I bought an Elite 7 HDI earlier this year while it was on sale. Had I not bought that one, I definitely would have bought something this fall during that killer sale. I'm sure you'll be happy with what you got!

I agree that their regular prices aren't that great but if you're patient, pretty much every item in their store is on sale every couple of months at the most. They also have either free shipping or $20 coupons all the time. Plus they will literally take back anything on a return. Buying something off Amazon and having an issue with it is way more of a hassle versus getting it from Cabelas.
You nailed it.

I either only buy stuff that's on sale from them and is the best price or its because they are the only one who has it in stock. Also most of the time they have shipping deals either 5$ or free.

I have always loved getting the Cabelas catalogs in the mail. They make me happy and remind me of my childhood when i coud window shop in the catlog for hours. The stores are fun, but not cheap. I do feel there are good deals to b had, especially if you buy the Cablas branded t
Items.

I recently bought a Vortex Viper 4-16x44 HS with BDC from Cabelas for $350 and free shipping. That was about $80 cheaper than any other competitor, and i looked at them all. Another example, i buy a boot for work that is made by Mendl. They are great boots and Cabelas puts their name on them and it makes them about 25% cheaper. Plus their name brand gear has an incredie warranty.

I shop around all the shops and i hate paying fulll price, but sometimes Cabelas has the right stuff for the right price.

I think my mailman hates them. Seems like I get at least one if not two a week. Hate to see how much they pay on mailing these out or how many trees they kill a year.

I get tired of this too. I order exclusively online but it's nice to take something to work and look at. They could cut it by 2/3 and would be fine still. I usually don't find something I want by seeing it in the catalog. I usually know what I want and then I check cabelas for the price I know i won't be paying. I use their price to see if the Amazon price is a good deal or not

And then I get that look from the wife when that huge hardcover catalog comes in the mail. You know the one that looks like 4 encyclopedias in one? Shes like "home much stuff do you buy from them?"

This past weekend, I walked in the store and purchased a 48 Gun Classic safe for $1k because I asked. :)
Nice having a store within 50miles to look over gear and make easy returns.
Although I buy on-line if its cheaper.

My wife likes to go there. That's a plus. Research at Cabela's and go to Sportsman's Warehouse and buy the same thing cheaper. My purchases have been on sale. Do have free shipping if you a Club Card (watch the website). Can get good deals when shopping Club Card deals. I really like to read the reviews on the website which are very helpful IMO.

Yeah, that is a problem. My wife has thrown the same thing at me a couple times.

I buy from them a few times a year. Almost always on a good sale (I think they were the first to have the Garmin Oregon down around $250). I also think their house-brand products are superior to Gander or Bass Pro's by a long shot.

What I don't understand is guns. My last 4 purchases of new guns have been online.

I like to go there a couple times a year and look at gear. I also like to look at the mounts and other cool stuff they have in the stores. Before they expanded stores and Bass Pro put stores everywhere it was a big deal for a few hunting buddies and myself to go once a year. Now that they have a few in Colorado it isn't such a big deal. I also have changed to more of a back country hunting style and they do not cater to that as much as certain online companies.

Cabela's is like the one stop shop. Won't find another big box retailer with the selection including BPS. Used to go to Sportsmans Warehouse, but all of ours closed, they couldn't compete with all the Academys.

I am 15 min from the original bps and still can't understand why a small cabelas can have a better selection of hunting and camping products. Service is spotty at either depending on who is working . Cabelas is generally higher on price but most of my bass pro stuff comes from their outlet store. I enjoy the fact that I can actually shop and ask questions at cabelas rather than dodge tourists at bps.

I live in a city that has a Cabelas store and two Bass Pro Shops. Cabelas has better sales on hunting equipment, but their sales are not as good as they were a couple of years ago. I order quite a few items from their bargain cave and have items shipped to the store for pick-up (no shipping costs). A big incentive in purchasing from Cabelas is having their credit card and earning their reward points. Points build up pretty quickly. Bass Pro's rewards program is not near as good.
