Why do people still shop at cabelas?

Cabelas does have some really great sales and I have gotten some amazing deals on Kryptek gear in the bargain cave there. Nice selection to look at everything and compare even if you don't buy there. A lot of the Cabela's branded gear is actually pretty nice for the price. When I first got into hunting out West I bought a lot of their gear cause I couldn't afford Sitka, Kryptek, Kuiu. Some of it I fell in love with and still use despite now owning a lot more premium gear.

keep in mind.... just because something costs a lot of money doesn't make it "high quality" I know a lot of people have that mindset but just isn't true. people pay for a name, some of those names are actually really good gear, others.... just riding that van wagon that more money equals better. ive had probs with my kryptek and I sent pants back to them forever ago, been trying to get ahold of them for last 4 weeks and I get no response, they have stopped responding to emails and ive began to lose my good manner. everytime I call, no matter what time in day it is I get told that whomever it is im looking for is at lunch. finally spoke my mind yesterday. if im going to spend that kind of money I expect bomb proof gear and even better service. cabelas has allways been good to me.

We just had one open here in Western Montana where I live. It's okay but doesn't seem any different or better than Sportsman's Warehouse or the Bob Ward & Son's store. The prices seem a bit high but as is mentioned, the sales can be good.

I do have one complaint with Cabela's. I mail ordered one of their new lighters that was supposed to be wind-proof, water-proof, and lights every time. $60.00 about. Filled it up and tried it at home. Thought it was the cats meow. Threw it in the pack. Carried it in the pack quite a while before I needed to start a fire out in the woods, maybe a year or so. Took out my fancy damn lighter and it would not light. Started my fire with some cheap Bic lighters I had as back-up. Sent the lighter back to Cabela's. They returned it later said it was fine. Could not get it to work even at home. Sent it back. They returned it again said it was fine. It seemed to work. Put it in the pack and carried it for quite a while before I needed it. Yes there was fuel in it too. Tried to start a fire and it would not work. Tried to get my money back for the thing which never ever really worked. They told me I could not return it as I have had it too long. It still looks brand new!! All it has done is to be a $60.00 weight to be carried in my pack. Not happy about the return and the fact they would not make it right!

Now that being said, I have a $100.00 gift coupon I received as a gift and I have a very strong need for either a Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40mm or a Zeiss HD5 5-15x42mm to put onto my .280 AI I just had built. With the coupon I must go to Cabela's!!
