Got my butt kicked this mourning at the gym. They had a class I thought was called Powerlift that I wanted to check out to make sure I was doing things right when I was lifting free weights. Turned out it was called Powerfit and was an endurance program with light weights but tons of reps and non stop. Also worked on abs and legs. I thought I was doing pretty good in the weight room but I got shammed at this class. The gals there blew me away. My hamstrings hurt so bad I wanted to cut them out this afternoon. Couldn't wait to get home and jump in the hot tub. But you know what - I kind'ave liked it! I think I am going to keep going to it mid week in between heavy weights days. I may not survive next week but if I do I will be a better man (hunter) for it!

Did a little chest, back, calves and tris today. Been doin long sessions of cardio but I am gonna switch it up. Gonna do 25 minutes of HIIT cardio to get the fat off around the abs. Then as season gets closer, do that and then bike ridin or plain old hikin with a pack as the cardio work also.

I am not lifting, but I started this week walking the arroyo behind our house. 2.5 miles each night with my pack on and it is a 250 foot elevation change in 1.25 miles. Only 10 pounds in it now, but I work up to 60 pounds of logging chains, tire chains strapped to it. I can't stand running so this is how I get it done.

By mid/late Feb I plan on hitting the mountains while shed hunting up around Santa Fe NM. Nothing like the thin air to whip your butt!

Sore from yesterdays "Powerfit" workout but got on the treadmill this mourning. 45 minutes fast paced walk at 4 mph @ 2% grade. 15 of those minutes @ 12% grade.

Logging chains get heavy quick! I've been using bags of lead shot for weights in my pack and for lifting. I started with gallon jugs of water and now the shot. It rides pretty easy too. Use what ya got!

Dan Pickar and I have been working out every morning on this show trip. We had a weight machine and bike to keep things going the right direction for us here.

Glory be. After one year and three months, the hell that was my plantar facitiis finally went away. I had to stop all running during that time, after 38 consecutive years running 20 miles/week minimum. Put in 9 miles in the last 5 days. Pain gone. I am slowly ratcheting it back up. Have to be careful as felt light headed all Saturday. Had heart ablation procedure to stop atrial flutter mid-October. Very eager to continue and drop weight.

Just feels so good to be physically able to resume normal workouts.

10 minutes on the bike, and super setted a back/biceps workout tonight. It was really nice to have a full weight set and cables to work with tonight. I was pretty happy with 6 pull ups, especially since I haven't had a place to do them in a very long time.
