Today was a shoulder maintenance day. Just did some very light weights at a wide variety of movement ranges. Will be mowing the yard this evening.

Yesterday was Week 3 Day 1 of Heavy Pack 20 for me. I forgot about that one. It's no joke. I wanted to quit after every rep about halfway through the workout. But I didn't. I kept up with the athletes in the video pretty well, except for the last AMRAP where I was almost 1 round behind them. But they're probably 25 years younger than me, so I gave myself the win anyway. :D :D

I have been walking quite a bit while visiting my wife's relatives in Washington state. Back home, the catch-up chores have kept me busy, but am still making time for a regular routine of morning exercises. I am guiding a 10 day canoe trip in Ontario's Quetico wilderness at the end of the month, and don't want to fall flat on my face in front of a bunch of Boy Scouts.
I used to do a push-up challenge while on a canoe trip, but ended that a few years ago after not being able to crawl out of the tent the next morning.
Hang in there Marcus.

I've picked up the pace after returning home a couple weeks ago, and was able to shed the few pounds that I gained while traveling. The AM exercises and hour in the kayak, followed by getting chores done have prepped me pretty well for the upcoming canoe trip. I almost screwed it all up yesterday when I stubbed my toe and yesterday and thought that I may have broken it, but it is much better today. Health trumps everything else, so keep at it guys and gals.

31 minutes this morning. I am upping the cardio in a big way while I rehab a shoulder tweak. Weird that I turned 40 and all of the sudden putting the kids to bed can tweak a shoulder LOL.

Day one of week three. Cardio daily. Different muscle groups every three days. I’m 67 so not hurting myself. Hard diet! No sweets, bread or potatoes. I can live without the bread and potatoes but dang I love sweets. They are my kryptonite.

I haven’t exercised in a long time, knee, arm and back pains have made it difficult. I have lost 25 lbs since April 1, knee is felling better after last injection. Arm still a problem no one can explain. Going to do some hiking this upcoming weekend and hope to start some level of exercise soon. I sure feel a lot better at 205 than I did at 230!

I just returned from my 9 day canoe trip in the Quetico Wilderness of Ontario. 113 miles of paddling and portaging. OOF DAH!!! This trip was very difficult for me, and I think that it may well be my last one. I am in good shape and did about as much prep as possible, but the years are catching up to me. I did hang in there with two fit 49 year old advisors, and 6 teenagers, and have outlasted my old canoeing buddies by 20 plus years. We covered over 25 different lakes and 29 portages. The longest portage was a mile long, but the toughest was short, boggy, rocky, steep, slippery, buggy nightmare.......and to think that we did it for fun.

We spent the last 12 days of July in Switzerland, hiking mostly. We averaged about 8 miles per day up and down the gorgeous mountains. One day we did 12 miles.

I've been doing MTNTOUGH Heavy Pack 20 this summer, and it's always great prep for the mountains. The last 2 or 3 years I've been doing Knees Over Toes Guy stuff one day per week along with the HP20. This summer I just did HP20. Leaving out the KOTG day was a mistake. My lower legs (calves and shin splints) were not ready for going up and down rocky trails all day every day. They were smoked and very sore. I didn't have that issue in the last couple years elk hunting after having done the KOTG day in my training. I won't leave that out again. HP20 had me in great shape for everything else, but my lower legs just weren't ready. I'm starting the KOTG stuff this week, and not skipping it again. :D

Hopefully everyone is doing good. I had some building issues in january that just got finished up. Basically my professional life has had control all of 24. I am getting ready for elk season, and am still in decent shape, just nowhere near as fit as usual. The good thing at 55, is well i have done it before and will do it again. what ever that is. lol Here's to more solo elk pack outs!

I'm in shape to hunt elk, but I don't have a tag this year. :( I'm holding out hope for a couple of West Texas draws that include elk. One of them is at the same place I hunted desert bighorn in 2013. I'd love to go back to hunt mule deer and elk. Fingers crossed.....

Got on the elliptical this morning, was on the rower the morning before. I'm not doing terrible, but oddly enough I have a lot of low elevation hunts this year. Not sure how I planned that!
