Shorter run today. This was a good lesson in diet, I could tell I ate pretty poorly on the road.

I am headed home for lunch, going to try and get a quick upper body workout in. Not sure yet what that looks like, but will likely involve the sledge hammer and the tire.

This was the first week of my taper and I was supposed to run 52 miles, but I skipped a 10 miler on Saturday after spending 4 hours moving rocks around with my tractor and a pry bar and just ran 1 mile to keep my streak going instead. My running streak is up to 79 days and 648.1 miles now for an average of 8.2 miles per day.

Ended up the week with 42.7 miles, ran 13 yesterday in 80+ with sun and what passes for humidity around here. It kicked my butt. Of course not taking any water with me wasn't a smart choice and was part of that, but I am really starting to get concerned about how I will do in Houston with real humidity for my 50 mile race. I really need to get an ice bandana out and practice with it a few times.

Supposed to do 47 miles this week but I can already see a few that might get skipped. I don't have a problem with taper madness, I actually enjoy it.

First thing this morning loaded the Eberlestock with 40 lbs and took a walk and then did some hills. Got a good burn going on the legs and the cardio was kicking in nicely.

More treadmill time with a pack. Its been kind neat seeing how different packs handle weight (and how I do). Today was my "once every 6-8 month shot in the knee" AKA the "rooster booster". Going to be off of it for a day or two. Guess it will be time to do those core exercises a bit more. Who knew small muscles could hurt so much :)

Felt good to run a little faster yesterday. Instead of slogging through some high mileage this week, I'm focusing on some shorter runs and adding a little bit of speed in there. Ended up with 8.26 miles at a 7:58 avg pace. Nice run.

That is fast Nathan, my legs are sore from last nights workout.. Upright rows, push ups, DB squauts, tire flips, tire drag, then lunges. 5 rounds of that madness.

Listen to your body, if it needs rest, rest it.

It was raining here again, but better than negative temps and snow. I did 5 miles at 2% incline on the "treadwheel of death" in 43 minutes. Then continued working on my basement. Saving a lot of money doing the work with a friend, but I'll be glad when its done.

Feel free to swing by my house. I have the basement about 95% framed.

This one today was rough! I can tell that I only got the one leg workout in this past week.
