To go along with the thread about ammo in the Lightweight Forum lets find out how many shots you take at a animal.
Just a average will do.
Just a average will do.
I guess that applies for me as well.I say 2 would be a average. Normally 1 does the job but I will always give’m another if I can. Elk I will keep shooting till they are down.
Yep, what he said ... !!It’s not common to get a second shot unless the first one is a hit. The first shot is the one that counts the most.
Your not the only one who has done that kind of stuff! Our Rifle Pistol Club has hunter sight in days prior to each of the 4 rifle seasons and our range is open to the public. We have Range Officers there to assist as necessary. I have seen many guys using 25-06 in 270s, 270s in 30-06 and even 243 in 308. Just couldn't figure why the bullets where tumbling and/or never hitting the paper! LOLvery seldom ,more then 1.
if first shot does not drop it immediately, 2.
worst case ever, 4. that was as a young, excitable ,hunter .
actually there was one incident where I shot 10 times ,using wrong (25-06 through a .270)bullets that ,I ALMOST MANAGED TO WIPE FROM MY MEMORY .(WITHOUT A DOUBT, dumbest thing I ever did)
nowadays all my efforts revolve around ,one shot ,one kill, mentality.
That's kinda scary CC!! Did anyone ever have their rifle blow-up on them?Your not the only one who has done that kind of stuff! funny how accuracy declines in such situations.Your not the only one who has done that kind of stuff! As long as it is a smaller caliber being fired out of a case of the same dimensions except for the bullet everything will be fine except for the bullet bouncing around in the barrel. That's kinda scary CC!! Did anyone ever have their rifle blow-up on them?
I wonder ,would the bolt even close in that scenario?I agree Jim. I was just wondering if CC ever witnessed something along the lines of your second scenario (30-06 in a 270) which would surely cause a problem!
Good point!I wonder ,would the bolt even close in that scenario?
