What a difference 2 weeks makes!!!

Just got back from Durango and I was surprised how green everything was. It looks like spring expcept for all the rabbit brush in bloom and the aspens and oak brush turning color to remind me it is fall. Everything is green, meadows have new grass coming up and the hay farmers are getting another cut. We got over 5" of rain in September and it is now really warm, 74 at my place yesterday and not any clouds until later afternoon. Forecast is for the same all week.

Is hot as hell here in Northern Nv. Bad time in Oct to be trying to kill a big buck. 85 yesterday. Had a tiny bit of rain but that’s it. Next week highs in the 60’s so next weeks deer hunt should be better.

Yeah, it foiled my hunt this last weekend. I could have hunted in shorts. It was colder two weeks ago at 27 degrees in the morning

I have a buck tag in NV unit 231 which I was originally going to hunt on opening day Oct. 5th. We didn't know it was going to stay hot for so long. 🥵
Decided to hold off until the last week of season which closes Oct. 31st.
Hopefully it will be much cooler. (y)

Our new extended forecast today shows rain starting Saturday and lasting until Friday. That means rain on opening of 1st season deer & elk on Wednesday.

Got this one on the last day of season after 8 days of hunting. Never saw any of the big ones I know can be found in this unit. :(
We got quite a bit of rain the last 3 days of the hunt which made things interesting.
We saw a couple of different herds of elk that has 6pt bulls in them plus a couple of raghorns. I didn't know until the ranger told us that the muzzleloader bull hunt was going on at the time. We had the herds of elk come within 100 yards on 2 consecutive days. We were within half a mile from a paved road.
