I got skunked again this year. At least I donated to a good cause.

Anyone ever had any luck with an expo tag? Not sure how I feel about giving all our tags away in a "raffle" while draw odds keep climbing but the $ does go to conservation, at least.

Let me first say that I am actually very supportive of Governor's type tags, where a FEW tags generate a huge amount of funds for wildlife conservation, but I have wondered about the expo tags. My question with the expo tags is how has this affected the draw tags? I honestly don't know the answer to that question.

This is why I ask that question. Personally I'm in the max point pool for elk as a nonresident. A few years ago, I could draw a tag in the max point round for all of the top 4 early rifle hunts (Beaver, Boulder, San Juan and Pahvant). Now only two of those hunts (San Juan and Boulder) have 2 or more tags available in the non-resident draw. The San Juan early rifle has been cut from 4 tags (2 in the max point draw) down to 2 tags (1 in the max point draw), so it is drawing out half as fast now.

Assuming nothing significant changes, I will draw in the next few years, but what about guys and the investment they have made who have one or two less points who have put in for nearly as many years as I have.

I know a few fellas that have drawn expo tags. One guy see a book cliffs archery deer one year and a paunsagaunt archery deer the next. I guess I'm not living as good as them, I only donated to the cause again!
