I have turkey strutting in my back yard and surrounding hay field every day all spring. Heck, they are on my porch a lot. I don't know why I've never gotten into turkey hunting. Calling them in is similar to calling elk, and all of that..... But they just don't trip my trigger. I do love to watch them around the place though.

I have a Tom that keeps fighting with his reflection in my basement sliding glass door, same thing every year. I let some friends hunt them and someday I want to get into it myself, but this is always my busiest time of year for work.

Our season starts next Wednesday. Turkeys have been in a pretty sharp decline the last 4 years, but we always seem to scratch em out. With the lower numbers, it’s getting harder to get excited. I’m no stranger to working for our birds, but it’s more fun when there’s a bunch in the area

My son and I went fishing this morning. Caught a limit of hybrids and a few white bass. We came back to my house for a late lunch. We then sat on the back patio by the pool. He turned the TV on and was watching a turkey hunting video on YouTube. I fell asleep. I woke up to him turning off the TV and peeking around the corner of the house. He said that a turkey on the video gobbled, and then he heard a gobble answering from around the corner of the house. We ran inside and grabbed a shotgun out of my safe. As we were doing that, a big gobbler walked right by the window about 10' away. Zach ran to the back door, but the turkey had seen us moving around through the windows. He was running off. Zach fired 3 rounds at him as he ran and then flew, but didn't knock a single feather off of him.

I've never called in a turkey or any other animal with a back porch TV before. But there's a first time for everything, I guess. :D
