Hey guys! We are leaving tomorrow for a 5 day turkey hunt in Unit 85 CO. Anyone ever did this hunt? We are excited. Hopefully the birds will be working well. This is my first Merriam hunt. Not sure what to expect when comparing them to the eastern turkey that I have hunted all my life!

Just got back from Colorado and had a pretty good hunt. We filled 3 of 4 tags on public/private land. We had a blast. The toms ad Jakes seemed to be grouped up for the most part. Had more luck calling with hen/gobble calls more than hen calls alone. Which was a BIG difference from hunting Missouri. I don't know of thats because the breeding season is still not going on yet or if that is just the nature of a Merriam turkey? But anyways, here are some pics of the birds we got. I killed a tom Friday, we got my mom a jake Saturday morning, and my wife got a tom on mothers day. All three were the first Merriams we have ever harvested! It was a great trip!
