Years ago I was all about beards. Dont get me wrong I still love those thick long beards but the first thing I look at when I run up on a bird is spurs. They are the closest thing to aging a bird. Good job!

Yep! I agree. I also try and even look when they're strutting or walking in. Sometimes the big bird(old bird) is not the strutter when there is more than one.

After the toughest turkey season I've had in a long time, a buddy and I managed to double up on two Merriam gobblers in NW Nebraska. They weren't coming to the call at all so we had to pull the old sneak and peek.IMG_20150520_203246.jpgIMG_20150503_091205999_HDR.jpg
