... Most of you people forget that the states already manage public lands, ...

... The fact that the states haven't sold off these lands to private interests should prove that they wont sell of lands that is transferred to them from the federal government. ...
To the first remark I say not a chance. Many serious hunters are very aware of Fed, State, Tribe, etc. ownership. ie: the sort of folks you are communicating with on the EF. Many of us carry landownership maps/gps with us while afield.

To the second remark, I suggest you put this in your pipe, http://www.opb.org/news/article/oregon-announces-details-of-elliott-state-forest-sale/ smoke it a bit, and reconsider your blanket statement. There are many examples of state owned land sales. Neither form of govt. ownership is perfect.

I do completely agree with the idea of Feds holding title and states being much more involved with management decisions, particularly local stake holders and users. Most of the $ would likely still need to be Federal.

like this thread or not I think we can all agree that discussing it is in all of our best interests.
can't solve a problem till it is admitted there is one.
to be honest until the last year or so , it was not something I had put a lot of thought into and would have probably readily agreed transfer was a good thing. I suspect that is probably true of most sportsman. which is why I believe these type threads are in all of our best interests to follow.

You are SO far off base that I don't know where to start...actually I'm not going to bother except to correct your completely erroneous statement about state land sales. Take a look at the link below. You will see that Nevada has sold 99 percent of the land the federal government granted them at statehood. Utah has sold about 50 percent. Well, you can read the rest for yourself.

Let me be perfectly blunt. IMO anyone who is in favor of federal land transfer to the states is doing an EXTREME disservice to western sportsmen and sportsmen elsewhere who come to hunt our federal lands.

Those of us defending our federal lands are not "stupid" or "insane". And we are not fond of name calling on this forum...it may be time for you to pack your bags.

They don't have to sell a single acre. If what is now national forest goes to the states and is managed by their land boards you won't be hunting or camping on it without some state legislation.
