Let's hear it, what do you think are the three most important exercises that a western big game hunter should be doing this spring before scouting season and shed season starts in full?

I have a few thoughts, but I want to hear all of your thoughts first

Walking/running lots and lots of stairs always seems to help me get ready for all the up and down inclines. I live in a pancake flat area of Nebraska so no hills to use in my workouts...

Cardio
Deadlifts
Healthy Eating in moderation (I know this is not an exercise, but Deadlifts are the best overall exercise that incorporate the entire body)
If I was hard-pressed to name a 3rd, it would be burpees.

those man makers some one put up a few years ago, work really well.
Basically go into plank with dumbbells in your hand, do a push up, do an arm raise for each arm, than burpee up and push the dumbells over your head, burpee back into plank and repeat.

Forgot about these...

Kettlebell Snatches are one of my favorite exercises.

My top 3, in order of importance:
-Hiking hills with a weighted pack
-Cardio - stationary bike, treadmill, or just running - as fast as I can, for as long as I can.
-Squats - Doesnt work as many muscles as dead lifting, but focuses more on the legs.

Shake weight is obviously #1, first and foremost... But, since that's so obvious, I didnt include it in the above.

Scouting season specifically. Legs....legs and more legs......burpees take care of the core strength.

1) Goblet squats
2) Treadmill utilizing an incline program
3) Burpees

My wife bought me a maxi climber and I like it. I can't go out in the winter too much because of 5 hrs of daylight & 12' of snow in the mountains. I can put my pack on with whatever weight and actually feel like i am climbing mountains.

These are good as long as your shoulders are good.

If you're like many out there who get NO exercise, I think getting that cardio in is #1, walking, running, being able to walk 5miles a day for 7 days straight is very different than being able to go out and walk 5miles once a month.

It is all about building leg, glute, and core strength with an emphasis on injury prevention. It makes a huge difference on long climbs, just be prepared to walk like a penguin the next couple days after the workout. Its horrific... in a good way.
