Texas hogs

Took a little trip down to the family place to hunt hogs last week. Low fence and plenty of hogs. Cold front followed us down and made for some chilly but productive hunting.
None of our hogs were taken over feeders so just want to dispel that myth that is the only way to take them.
They are smart and wary but tasty! 150 lbs of meat for smoking and sausage making.

I just got an invitation to hunt hogs for free next month.
I've got a few custom knives from a guy in new Mexico. He bought a small piece in Texas and invited me down to hunt with him.
Was watching hogs on his camera while we talked.

Interesting, I'll have to ask him about that. I think I actually have the Turkey tags already. Added them to my hunting license in November. If they carry over onei this year that is.

We also brought back some pecan and mesquite wood for the smoker. Octoberfest sausage and smoked pork are in the plans for the meat.

I'll use most of the mesquite for smoking sea salt, but also use it building a good hot bed of coals.

I like the Mesquite lump charcoal,it comes in 50lb. bags for $12
