Good luck Elk Trout! Hope you get into them. I'm starting to get excited, were doing it on our own this year. Electronic caller, two Vortexs 1000 + socks... It'll be like work, but fun!

We do it the same way! We have the same setup! It is a ton of work! We usually always have a guy or two scouting for the next field! We sometimes hunt the morning in one field and then pick up the whole thing and hunt a different field in the afternoon! Sure is fun though! Good luck to you as well!

Work for fun! I'm going to bring a dozen full bodies. We were going to pull an enclosed trailer but the guy who owns it is going to fly out with another buddy.

Just spoke with a friend who's place I hunt. He said he's starting to see flocks of snows here in Wyoming. Heard from another friend they're starting to see snows in S/SW Nebraska.

Saw a flock of specks West of Sioux Falls, SD today. Maybe 50 birds. Saw numerous small flocks of Canada's South of town yesterday.

I've been seeing lots of geese heading north. Spring weather last several weeks. The pits just east of Kearney NE was loaded with snows this afternoon. Wasn't room for many more to fit on them.

We shot a pile of them here in Nebraska this weekend (just west of Lincoln). I would say we are at or close to peak numbers right now. The migration is very early this year- hoping the Dakotas get a big storm so they don't just fly through!

After last weekend we have almost no snow cover and lots of sheet water.

I no longer participate in the madness. I'm smart like that.

I was leaving Thursday for Kansas to hunt around Glen Elder. It seems this year most the birds are gone. Not sure if I am going to head into Nebraska or stick with Kansas and hope there are some juvies coming through! Not sure what to do!

Love those juvie flocks. Wonder what the long term forecast is? One storm through NE/SD and every bird will be back in KS.
Long term forecast here is pretty mild. Coldest days in the 40s with several days showing in the 50s to low 60s over the next 10 days. Unfortunately its setting up for a quick migration. Should still be plenty of lagging juvies to hunt for the next few weeks.

Here is one of about 10 groups in my area right now. I just gained permission on this field. I'm making a new cow decoy tonight for the occasion so hopefully they hit this field for another day or two. With cows close, it should work great.
