I've seen this bull several times but I don't catch him laying down often. His ears are back and he was either irritated by me and my dog or by mosquitos. Just beginning to raking his antlers!

Pretty interesting to see how he is resting. I would want to take the weight off my neck if I carried that set around. Thanks AK- awesome as always

I agree. I don't think I've ever seen them laying like this one. I thought he was hurt at first, but after watching a little, I don't believe he was. He seemed to be in a bad mood though. I didn't stay with him very long.

Thanks. Anchorage has world-class hiking and biking. Most of these are taken in Kincaid park. I ride there a lot, especially this time of year when the salmon are in the local streams that some other trails parallel. Way too many bears on them right now. As it is, I carry bear spray and a handgun just in case.
Come on up and we'll go riding...you might change your name to Alaskabound 2017 or 2018 though!

My wife and I's plan was to move there last year (that's where my name came from!) but things with work fell through and family stuff came about. So it will either be Utah or Colorado next year we hope! But I will definitely be back to Alaska someday for some fishing and hunting obviously! Best trip of my life was going there for our honeymoon! Definitely trying to get my dad up there for a moose hunt before he gets too old! I will hit you up for a guide service! ;)

Well, both Colorado and Utah seem like good alternatives.

I know a good number of guides here, so touch base anytime. I can make recommendations who to look at, and more important maybe, who to avoid!

That sleepy bull woke up! He has most of the velvet off, next he'll have to work on the bushes!

Thanks. I watched him raking his antlers pretty hard. He was doing a lot of grunting. He was about a mile from where I saw him last on a different bike trail. I don't get tired of seeing him though, not the biggest bull but still pretty cool!
