I know exactly who is holding that second pic of the huge Ohio NT buck!

Haha.....you probably do. But like I said. They were posted on FB pages. So I didn't think it would be against any sharing "rules".......those are not his trail cam pics though, they are ours. We all hunted this deer hard, without pressuring him. And all had him close too, just couldn't fling an arrow with confidence.

We were down at the Roaring Springs Ranch in SE Oregon last weekend and still saw horns on head. The horns were bleach white. Is this what they look like right before they fall off? I was surprised to see horns on head anyway, but I have never seen them colored like this. Is this coloring normal? Is it normally this late when they shed in SE OR?

unless that is something that is norm in that part of oregon i dont think thats norm at all, were these blacktails? they should still be mostly brown when they drop, even if there is no new growth those sheds should have fallen off by the time they turn white like that, usualy takes a while to turn white after falling off the head.

White will usually just be a sign they've seen a lot of sun. Deer living in new growth clearcuts and pasture/field/crop lands will get bleached quicker.

mulies. We saw about 6 bucks out of about 100 deer that had horns on. maybe it was just the sun glare. this is definitely a high sunshine area. This is all sage with sparse junipers thrown in.

Maybe it is the sun glare, but it looks like the bottoms have some color and it just fades to white.

It was still pretty awesome. We saw over 100 deer in a couple hours.

Ears and generally keeping their heads shaded on hot sunny days will keep that lower portion from bleaching out as quick.
