Saw a buck today that has dropped his horns. Think I might go look tomorrow with the dog and see if I can find any.

Been itching to get out here but there is way to much snow on the ground right now. Only the real Fresh ones would be found. If we ever get some melting its going to be "game on"

These sheds (same deer) were shed DEC 21st and 22nd. And found about a week later. Ohio....I cropped the faces out because I didn't ask if I could share. But one guy is my best friends dad, and the other guy shared it on his FB page when he found the match a week later. We all hunted this deer hard. Just couldn't close the gap with a bow. One side was 92" and the other 96". Slightly over 200" of NT whitetail.

WOW!!!!!!

He must have been stressed real hard from the rut to drop that early, or does he normally drop that early? Here in TN our season runs into Jan, I would hate for someone to shoot him thinking it was a huge doe.

They all dropped early in Ohio this year. Here in KY it seems to be about normal this year. Its an inexact science in my opinion. I'm fortunate enough to have access to a 15k acre piece of ground here in KY where we can watch the deer very closely. I can say that it differs year to year as to when they shed, rut, and change from summer to fall to winter ranges. The chasing and cruising phases of the rut do fall within a 5-7 day range give or take though. Its best between Oct 30th- Nov 12th here almost always.

Sorry, just realized I'm kinda hijacking the thread. I'll stop haha

But yea, deer sheds can be found as early as Dec for sure. And I have seen them holding both sides as late as mid March.

All of our threads invariably get off topic anyways. More big shed/dead deer pics please!

Haha, sure...

My buddy got this one with his bow in Ohio this past year. We had 2 years of pictures of him as well. He finally slipped up and he put an arrow in him. Of course it ran straight down an eastern OH mtn (you have to drag up over here). Made for a long evening to say the least.

Here's another friends bow kill from where I work. Super 140 class 8 point. Biggest deer he's gotten, I'll never forget the phone call!! Cobb....you got to get over here haha

Ok, back to the shed topic!! Here's a nice shed from 2012 in Ohio. Found in 2013 (Feb). 65" if you add back what was probably chewed off.

Lost from this buck. (Pic was 2013, the following year)
