You're welcome. Ironically enough it was the email they sent out last spring that CODAK posted that started the change. Nobody knew they couldn't be picked up and when told they couldn't brought a bunch of questions about gathering mushrooms, grapes, and plums. The heat must have gotten pretty intense.

They never did send another email telling people it had changed.

They send out an email to residents every spring reminding people of the law that you cannot take anything from public lands. I know several people who have gotten ticketed for it. Sucks but a law is a law...
Are all public lands in South Dakota owned or leased by the Game & Fish Dept? I doubt that...

Horsenhike: Apologies, they indeed not send this out! It's still not clear if Walk Ins are still open.... sounds like for sure GPA's and WPA's but not sure if Walk In's count? I know plenty of people who were quite upset with a ticket a few years ago!! I guess you can shoot 8 bucks in a year but if you wanted to keep a shed all hell breaks loose haha glad they finally changed it

No need for apologies, CODAK. Few people know of the change. I found a copy of the South Dakota Conservation Digest today. It has an article about shed hunting. GPAs and State Parks are open to shed hunting. Landowner permission is required to shed hunt on Walk In Areas.

Let people know, and good luck!
