I think you meant to say that you would have no qualms!I would have qualms about putting a Nikon on an '06. Cameraland has the 3 x 9 buckmaster bdc for 159 right now. Not on the web, call only.

I guess it's like the old saying goes........ if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm going to stick with what I know. I know it will work for him for a long, long time. If he ever decides he doesn't like the Leupold and wants to change it, I'll get the scope back and upgrade one of my older ones. I appreciate all of the input, guys. Thank you.I was in nearly the same exact spot as you a few years ago. I bought a rifle for my daughter that had a junk scope on it and was a Leupold only guy. I decided to try the Vortex Diamondback 3X9 when it came time to buy, I haven't had any issue with the scope yet. I have had issues with my Diamond back bino's however, I sent them back for repair with no issue but they are doing the same thing again. Sending them back again now that hunting is over, I wont buy vortex diamond back binoculars again.
Hard to go wrong with a Leupold VX-II on it. I also like the Ziess Terra scopes alot from what I have seen. I have been really thinking about getting 1 for my 270 but having trouble taking the VX-II off of it that has been so reliable over the years. I think the new Redfield scopes are a good scope for the money if you are on a budget. I always hear good things about Vortex but I have no experience with them.
That's what I also have had on my pre 64 30-06 for quite some time. With the scope caps they make that screw into it I think it's a really nice looking piece.I agree. I put a Leupold on my pre-64 Model 70 and it works great.

I went with the Leupold VXII 3-9x40mm. It's a great little all around scope. Fairly priced and great quality. And if he decides he doesn't like it Ive got an old pre 64 mdl 70 in .308 that it'll look real nice on!!!So which Leupold will you choose?
