Side note, I hunted the Missouri breaks archery in MT a couple of times, for elk, I believe the archery season was 6 weeks, possibly 8 weeks, covered pre rut, rut, post rut.
success rates are really low.
instead of having 1000 hunters who may kill 150 elk? I thought splitting the season into 3 seasons would help everyone, less pressure., ie 333 hunters during each 2 weeks, that's 1/3 the pressure essentially, and on top of that success rates would increase IMO. so now maybe 200 elk get taken.
